The Best Natural Sunscreens

Last Modified: June 23, 2015 at 4:14 pm by Tianna | Leave a comment

I know it’s Wellness Wednesday and Woman Crush Wednesday, but I’m burnt out on all things Wednesday-themed so I’m taking a week off! Sorry, if you love those series; they’ll be back in a week or so when I’m done being burnt out 😀 Today is all about my current sunscreen favorites!

I’ve tried more sunscreens than I can recount, but there are a few that have stuck with me alongside some recent discoveries that have easily become new loves in my sun protection arsenal. Since summer is nearly here, I figured now is as good a time as any to share my top picks for sun creams that actually work, are gentle enough for all skin types, smell lovely, AND help protect your skin from premature aging alongside UV rays.

A relatively new discovery, this sun cream by Graydon Clinical Luxury has a barely-there scent and goes on like a dream! It’s super easy to blend out and has a very balancing finish that feels almost matte, but not drying at all. If you have oily, acne prone or combination skin, this is an ideal choice! This sun cream is also formulated with skin-repairing ingredients such a spirulina, green tea and various other plant ingredients to keep your skin healthy and youthful.

Jane Iredale Powder Me SPF 30

For those of you who cannot bear the idea of putting cream on your face during hot days, this SPF powder from Jane Iredale is perfect! Scentless, gentle, and easy to apply, this SPF powder comes with an easy powder puff applicator which you can swirl onto your skin throughout the day. It’s a great replacement for face and finishing powders if you want to protect your skin and keep oil at bay.

COOLA Sport Spray SPF 30 – Tropical Coconut

Last, but certainly not least, is the COOLA Sport Spray which is my absolute favorite sunscreen spray! I’ve used this stuff for years and years and I love it! It’s the easiest way to protect my skin at the pool and beach without too much effort. The spray goes on easy, protects my sun with natural ingredients, and smells incredible (tropical coconut is very similar to banana boat and other tropical sunscreens, but without the toxic ingredients!).

Thanks for this list, Tianna! I’m so bad when it comes to sunscreen because of the stickiness factor, but I know stickiness is better than skin cancer! Also, who wants sun wrinkles? hehe

I use natural sunscreen, love it! Daily I have a mineral makeup that contains sunscreen. If I need more I use Juice Beauty’s CC cream on my face or one of their SPF moisturizers and on my body I use Badger’s sunscreen.

It is good to see so many natural sunscreens around. I do worry about kids and adults who put on the non natural ones, especially over the long term.

    1. June 7, 2016 at 8:45 AM

yeah definitely. I love that there are more options now and as they become more available and affordable, people will definitely make the switch 🙂
