As someone who is super obsessed with Halloween and often spends months in advance coming up with a costume idea, I can totally understand if you’d just rather not because it does take a lot of time and effort. For this reason, I’ve come up with a list of super easy and cheap Halloween costume ideas for those of you who just want simple ideas that won’t cost you a ton of money ( if any money at all ). These ideas are still fun and cute so you can enjoy the fun of Halloween without breaking the bank or looking lame.
6 Super Cute and Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas
Any kind of Animal – Cat, Dog, Mouse, Bunny, etc.
One of the easiest options for a quick and cheap Halloween costume is to dress up like a cute (or scary) animal of your choice. Cats are really easy and all you need is some black eyeliner or face paint to draw on some whiskers and accentuate a kitty nose.
Add in a black slinky bodysuit, dress or even black leggings and you’re good to go! You can customize any of these however you like with what you already own as desired. If cats aren’t your thing, there are always cute dog or puppy looks, bunnies, a mouse, or even a cute deer like Bambi ;-).
Skeleton / Dead Anything
There are loads of skeleton makeup ideas and tutorials out there, but the realistic ones are my favorite because they looks elegant, beautiful, and still really haunting. You can make any costume or invent any costume you already have by “dead-ifying” it. Have a pirate costume already?
Go as a dead pirate this year! You can also just wear a cute outfit and paint your face as a skeleton. Play around with fun colors and go as yourself, but dead 😉 You can also add color to this idea by doing a sugar skull makeup look.
Any Fairy Tale Character
If you’re a fairy tale fan, there are tons of fairy tale characters (and Disney and classic Grimm ones) you can easily dress up. If you have short dark hair, put a red bow in your hair, pop on a white, red or black dress, give yourself some rosy cheeks and red lips and there you go – You’re Snow White.
If you happen to own a blue or yellow dress, go as Belle from Beauty and the Beast. If you have particularly long hair, go as Rapunzel. If you’re blonde, go as Aurora from Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella. 🙂
A Ghost
You can dress up as a ghost for Halloween in so many fun way no matter your age or gender. The first way is super easy and involves cutting 3 circles into an old sheet for your eyes and mouth. Voilà! You’re a ghost 😉 The second goes for a bit more of a realistic ghost look and involves painting your face white and making your eyes look all gaunt and dead-like. Both ideas are reasonably cheap and fun 🙂
A Doll/ Creepy Doll/ Goth Doll/ Dead Doll, etc.
Doll Halloween looks can be as simple or elaborate as you like. There are SO many variations of this costume out there. Dead doll. Creepy doll. Goth Doll. Skeleton Doll. Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. The list goes on. All you need is some makeup, your imagination, and a creepy little girl style dress. Possibly, some mary jane shoes!
A Witch
This one is such a classic, but there are tons of ways to make it your own. All you really need is some makeup, a witch hat, and a black dress. Add in some boots, creepy vintage jewelry, and some ribbon or lace. There are many different looks for this. You could be a good witch like Glenda from Oz and then you won’t need a black dress! You could creep it up and make yourself look like a demonic witch. You could be super classic about it or you could be historical about it. O, be more modern and go as one of the super stylish witches from American Horror Story: Coven.
