As someone who is super obsessed with Halloween and often spends months in advance coming up with a costume idea, I can totally understand if you’d just rather not because it does take a lot of time and effort. For this reason, I’ve come up with a list of super easy and inexpensive ideas for those of you who just want a simple, cheap costume option that won’t cost you a ton of money ( if any money at all ) and is still fun and cute so you can enjoy the fun of Halloween without breaking the bank or looking lame.
6 Super Cute and Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas
Any kind of Animal – Cat, Dog, Mouse, Bunny, etc. - One of the easiest options for a quick and cheap Halloween costume is to dress up like a cute (or scary) animal of your choice. Cats are really easy and all you need is some black eyeliner or face paint to draw on some whiskers and accentuate a kitty nose and a black slinky bodysuit, dress or even black leggings. You can customize any of these however you want with what you already own and just have fun with it. If cats aren’t your thing, there are always cute dog/puppy looks, bunny rabbits, mouse (like Minnie! – red hair bow and ears!), or even a cute doe/deer like Bambi
Skeleton / Dead Anything - There are loads of skeleton makeup ideas and tutorials out there, but this look by Mademoiselle Mu is, by far, my favorite because it looks elegant, beautiful, and yet, still really haunting. That being said, you can make any costume or invent any costume you already have by “dead-ifying” it. Have a pirate costume already? Go as a dead pirate this year! Otherwise, you can go as just plain old ( but awesome ) yourself, but dead You can also add color to this idea by doing a sugar skull makeup look.
Any Fairy Tale Character - If you’re a fairy tale fan, there are tons of fairy tale characters (and Disney and classic Grimm ones) you can easily dress up. If you have short dark hair, put a red bow in your hair, pop on a white, red or black dress, give yourself some rosy cheeks and red lips and there you go – You’re Snow White. If you have a blue or yellow dress, you can be Belle from Beauty and the Beast. If you have particularly long hair, you can go as Rapunzel. If you’re blonde, you can go as Aurora from Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella as long as you have a blue or white dress. A Ghost - This could be done in one of two ways. The first way is super easy and involves cutting 3 circles into an old sheet for your eyes and mouth. There! You’re a ghost The second goes for a bit more of a realistic ghost look and involves painting your face white and making your eyes look all gaunt and dead-like (see above). Both ideas are reasonably cheap and fun
A Doll/ Creepy Doll/ Goth Doll/ Dead Doll, etc. - Doll Halloween looks can be as simple or elaborate as you like. The one shown above is more like a marionette puppet doll than anything, but there are SO many variations of this costume out there. Dead doll. Creepy doll. Goth Doll. Skeleton Doll. Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas stitch doll. And the list goes on. All you need is some makeup, your imagination and a creepy little girl style dress. Possibly some mary jane shoes.
A Witch - This one is such a classic, but there are tons of ways to make it fun and new. All you really need is some makeup, a witch hat and a black dress with possibly some lace. You can add in some boots if you want to get authentic about it, but it’s up to you. There are many different looks for this. You could be a good witch like Glenda from Oz and then you won’t need a black dress! You could creep it up and make yourself look like a demonized witch. You could be super classic about it or you could be historical about it and be a Salem style witch. You could be modern and be one of the super chic witches from American Horror Story : Coven.
