7 DIY Eco-Friendly Projects to Get You Back In Touch With the Earth!

Because it’s Earth Month, I wanted to share some fun DIY eco-friendly projects to help you get in touch with Mother Earth. I absolutely love utilizing plants, soil, moon and sun, flowers, etc. in DIY projects. The end result of such projects is not only beautiful, but also kind to the planet. Plus, it’s a great way to remember what mighty power the earth elements have: the power to heal, practical uses, aesthetic beauty, beauty benefits, and more 🙂

DIY Walnut Ink

I absolutely LOVE this DIY Walnut Ink tutorial from FreePlayCraft! How cool is it that we can make eco-friendly ink?! I admit, the tutorial process of making walnut ink is a bit lengthy, but the end result is worth it. Plus, non-toxic plant ink means you don’t have to worry about any harmful effects to the earth or yourself.

Make A Plant Frame

This is my favorite eco-friendly tutorial as of late! It’s a beautiful DIY succulent plant picture frame that you can hang in your home! Not only is the effect beautiful, but the plants themselves bring clean air into your home and lots of natural color. Succulents, air plants, and moss seem to be the best for this type of project and they’re the easiest plants to maintain.

DIY Flower Crown

Who doesn’t love a flower crown in spring, am I right? I think they’re so pretty. This is especially lovely for photo shoots, weddings, and parties, but who says we can’t make them just for fun?

Moon + Sun Herbal Oils, Balms + Tinctures

There are so many DIY recipes out there for herbal oils, balms, tinctures, and more. You can even get some of their herbal infusions which correspond to the sun and moon, respectively, and hold different vibrations. One of my favorites is this handy DIY burn ointment from Boulder Locavore.

Sun + Moon Infused Herbal Teas

From simple herbal sun teas to this wonderful moon mother elixir for expecting mothers from Local Milk Blog, the options are limitless! The blend includes herbs specifically tailored to help pregnant women feel their best and keep their little buns in the oven as healthy and happy as can be. Of course, if you’re not expecting, then try any number of herbal sun or moon teas which can help everything from cramps to sleep, anxiety, and more. Plus, they taste delicious!

Plant Something

Spring is the best time of year to start a garden, but you don’t need to go crazy if it’s not your thing. Germinate one plant, if that seems less intimidating. Go out and help plant trees for a day. Bringing more plants into being help clean the air and stimulate new life. They’re a wonderful reminder of the beautiful aspects of nature.

Make Seed + Flower Paper

There are so many cool ways to make your own paper. Make plantable seed paper with pressed flowers embedded into it (like the photo shows above). Make homemade paper, add your own flowers, then frame it for a bit of natural home decor. It’s entirely up to you and your tastes!
