Tarot Tuesday on Instagram

If you’re not hanging out on instagram with me, then you may not have heard about a new series I’ve started called Tarot Tuesday! In this fun series, we will be learning the different symbolism, meanings, and indications of each card in the Major Arcana. Each week, I will share a few new cards over on instagram and we can all discuss it.

About the Tarot

Originally, tarot cards were used in a playing card game called “triumph” similar to bridge in the early Middle Ages. It wasn’t until those with interest in the occult (things hidden) began to discover Tarot cards and felt the cards held more meaning than simple playing cards. Some occultists believe Tarot to be from Ancient Egypt and hold the symbolic keys to life. Others simply find them to be a unique and symbolic way to reflect on the daily trials and triumphs of our lives.

The Fool’s Journey

The cards in the Major Arcana (all the main cards in tarot) is also sometimes referred to as the Fool’s Journey. The Fool’s Journey is simply a metaphor for our journey through life. Each card in the Major Arcana represents a step in that journey, from innocence and optimism (0-The Fool) to complete mastery of self and spiritual enlightenment (21-The World). We can learn things from each step in the Fool’s Journey of life and how to understand ourselves better, improve our lives, and integrate all the parts of ourselves into a more complete whole.
