1.Daily Facial Massage // You can use your fingers for this, but I prefer to use facial rollers (like the one in this True Botanicals Gift Set which I featured in my last post!) or gua sha tools because I’m lazy. These tools are fantastic for massaging your face which not only improves blood circulation, but also relieves muscle tension, lymphatic drainage and fluid buildup, and is honestly super relaxing! All of this helps push toxins out of the skin while improving your overall radiance.

2. Exfoliation // Exfoliating your skin 1-3 times per week (depending on your skin type and sensitivity) is a great idea during the cold months. This helps slough off any flaky, dry skin and improve cell turnover to reveal healthy, fresh skin and keep your skin smooth and soft.

3. Lock in Moisture // During the cold months, I am obsessive about this combination of products: face mist + face serum + face oil. The face mist soothes and refreshes dull skin while serums (specifically water based ones) hydration and treat skin issues. Finish off with a face oil or balm and those plant oils and butters in the products help to lock moisture into your skin while also nourishing and protecting it from the elements.

4. SPF Always + Repair // As I’m sure you’ve heard many times before, you MUST use sun protection even in the wintertime! UV skin-damaging rays are still active on cloudy days. They come right through your windows and cause premature aging like fine lines and pigmentation all year round. Therefore, using a mineral sunscreen every single day is ESSENTIAL to healthy, glowing skin. For any existing damage, you’ll want to invest in a treatment serum that will address any pigmentation, discoloration, or texture issues.

Eat Well // Last, but not least, is to realize that no matter how amazing your skincare routine is, there is a factor that you cannot ignore in order to achieve the healthiest skin possible and that is by taking care of your body and mind. This includes eating lots of healthy greens and winter vegetables, making sure you are hydrated with water and teas, limiting sugar and dairy, relaxing when you can, and getting a proper night’s sleep.
