Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum Review

I’ve been testing out the Active Botanical Serum from Vintner’s Daughter for a few months now and I can honestly say I’m hooked! After speaking with the brand’s founder, April, and discussing her very special serum, I knew I had to try it out so I’m very thankful she send one for review because this is not just any old face serum. This serum might just change your entire face.

The Vintner’s Daughter Story

April, like many consumers today, was fed up with the lack of results she was getting from high end face serums. Add the fact that none of them were as “all-natural” as they claimed to be and you might be left frustrated and annoyed. Where others might have thrown up their hands and settled, April, the vintner (a fancy term for someone who makes incredible wine), saw an opportunity.

She, alongside natural beauty experts, spent 2 years researching and formulating her beloved Active Botanical Serum.

April’s goals with the serum were to create a serum that’s infused with as much powerhouse plant goodness as possible to benefit your skin while also offering up a luxurious skincare experience. Much thought, research, and development also went into the creation of a unique essential oil blend that is both effective in it’s practical uses and smells incredible. I definitely think she succeeded!

Unique Application Technique

One of the things that sets this serum apart (aside from the astounding plethora of potent botanical ingredients) is the unique application technique shown above. This technique is what April has found to be the most efficient way to get the most out of her amazing serum and I can tell you from experience; it works!

I’ve been using this serum for over 2 months and I’ve had very few breakouts.

The ones I had were minimal, small, and would go away within a day or two using this serum. My favorite way to use this serum is right before bed, though I’ve begun using a few drops mixed into my sunscreen during the day recently. For the first month, I used it all on it’s own. I cleansed my face, sprayed a toner mist on my skin, and then used the push and press application technique to make sure this serum was absorbed into my skin. On mornings after using this, my skin glows! It looks so fresh, clean and clear. That last one is something I definitely look for in a serum (clarity).

Things the Active Botanical Serum Does that I Love ♥

Better Skin Clarity

My skin just looks clearer. I have fewer breakouts. My skin seems brighter and more even toned. I find I need less coverage with my makeup (thank you April!).

Heals and Fades Acne and Skin Discoloration

This is something I’m certain this serum does for skin is heal and fade acne spots and discoloration. I find it helping speed up the healing for actual breakouts on my skin. This serum helps to actually get rid of those ugly spots and scars from acne that’s already come and gone. As a veteran pimple picker (gross, but true), I can honestly say this has helped my skin. It’s fading the ugly scars I had on my cheeks and chin from horrible hormonal acne I had from high school. These scars are something I’m aware of now that the acne is mostly gone because the marks are noticeable. This serum is one of the few that actually helps fade these marks.

Hydrates, Softens, and Renews

An obvious side effect is better skin hydration, but I also want to note that my skin feels softer and renewed. When I say renewed, I mean that my skin looks newer. My skin can sometimes take on this dehydrated, almost dry but not, almost congested but not, dull sort of look. It gives my skin an ugly rough sort of appearance. This serum gets rid of that altogether. My skin looks baby soft. It literally just took on a whole new texture and look.

Other Skin Benefits:

  • Potent anti-inflammatory ingredients calm and soothe redness and irritation
  • Phytoceramides firm and tighten skin, potent antioxidants and fatty acids help fight signs of aging
  • Maintain skin elasticity
  • Strengthen capillaries (great for people like me who frequently rub their eyes)
  • Inhibit melanin production (for those who have discoloration/hyper-pigmentation)
  • Deliver a hefty dose of oxygen to skin cells which helps prevent free radical damage done to skin by outside aggressors (like pollution, smoke, and bad diet choices)

Multiple Uses = Better Value ♥

Of course, I’m not going to lie; this serum is pricey. At $185 USD a bottle, it’s certainly not cheap. That being said, the bottle you will receive is quite large. Having used mine for over 2 months now, I can confidently say it will last you a long time. Mine is hardly halfway gone after the 2 month period so I can imagine it might last 3-4 months if used at the recommended amounts on your face and neck. That’s how I’ve been using mine. I still have quite a bit leftover after over 2 months of consistent use.

To give more value to this incredibly effective serum, April has kindly highlighted some of the unique ways you can use this serum in your daily skincare routine.

As Is.

Obviously, you can use this serum all by itself and the results are very efficient. It will help correct discoloration, heal blemishes faster, brighten, hydrate, nourish, and give your skin new clarity.

With Moisturizer or Sunscreen.

This is another really useful way to use this serum because if you have dry skin, mixing it with moisturizer can help keep your skin super hydrated throughout the day. If, like me, you deal more with oily to combination skin, then using a few drops (I use 1-2) with your sunscreen is a better bet and doesn’t make skin super oily, though it will take a moment to absorb into the skin.

Exfoliation.

You can also mix a few drops of this serum with any manual exfoliator to help improve your glow. Another DIY kind of way to create your own exfoliator is to mix a few drops of serum with some sugar or baking soda. You can also mix it with a little bit of honey (manuka for those who want an intense treatment), raw cacao powder, or kaolin clay or clay based mask.

DIY Brightening Mask.

April was kind enough to share her simple DIY face mask recipe of 4-6 drops of serum, 1 teaspoon of yogurt, 1 teaspoon of chlorella, and honey (manuka or raw organic) for a healing glow-inducing skin treatment.

Overall, I’m incredibly happy with the Active Botanical Face Serum and I’ll definitely be purchasing once I run out.

Yes, it’s expensive, but if you think of all the serums you won’t be spending money on in the future, how long this serum will last you, and the different ways you can use it (not to mention the efficiency of the serum on it’s own), the investment is well worth the price. I honestly am loving my skin after using this! My favorite effect from this serum (though there are many) is the brightening and clarifying effect it has. It’s deeply hydrating, but not oily like a lot of face serum/oils can be, but I love that this gives my skin a level of clarity that other face treatments just haven’t been able to. My skin looks clearer and brighter, scars seem less noticeable, and my skin texture seems baby soft and pretty.
