Use These Plant Oils for Natural SPF Sun Protection This Summer!

10 Oils With Natural SPF

10 Oils With Natural SPF – Healing with Essential Oils

I’m not sure where this chart/ infographic originated from because it’s all over a bunch of websites so there’s really no telling, but I wanted to share it with you all because I think it’s super helpful, especially if you’re trying to go green or natural with your beauty routine. I did a post on this awhile back which  also featured some other tips for using natural sunscreen, but I like how this chart is super easy to see and understand so I thought it was definitely worth sharing.

I think a lot of people can still be a bit confused when it comes to all natural plant oils because they might be unsure which will work best for them.

There are a ton of natural oils out there which may or may not work for you which is why a lot of people think their skin isn’t suited to oil. I did a post ages ago on the best oils for your skin type which I think will help you out if you are unsure which is best for your skin type and concerns. For instance, if you have acne prone skin, you may not want to use shea butter. If you have dry skin, avocado oil is super beneficial. This is just in general so you’ll need to compare it to the list I did or to the chart above to see which would be best for your skin and the amount of SPF you think your skin will need on any given day. This is somewhat relevant, but did you know that applying green tea topically has shown signs of improving your sun protection and tolerance? Some say you can also improve your sun protection factor by drinking green tea as well as applying it topically (on top of your skin via skincare products with green tea in them) because of all the antioxidants. You can read more about that here.

I hope you found this helpful and have a lovely day!

I had no idea plant oils could be useful for sun protection, I guess I never thought about it before, thanks for sharing. The Olive oil really surprises me. I always learn the quirkiest things on your blog 🙂 P.S Where has your ‘like’ button gone? xx

Of course! Glad you’ve found it helpful haha. P.s. I’m self-hosted now so I don’t have one. I’m trying to figure out how to do it via wp plugin, but haven’t figured that out yet. Will let you know once I do ♥

I absolutely love this post hun! This is amazing info. I’ve always been iffy about SPF and could never find the perfect sun cream before and such, but it’s amazing to know that these oils contain natural SPF. I definitely am going for the natural wagon here. Thanks so much for sharing. x Donah

I’m glad you enjoyed it! I find the chart really useful and I don’t think many people know about oils having natural SPF in them. I think it’s great for people who like to use face and body oils because they some can double a sun protection without the extra effort.

Great list! Did you know that pomegranate seed oil is another amazing natural plant oil that increases the body’s production of melanin, making it a natural SPF enhancer, too?
