Top Face Oils for Acne Prone Skin

At this point in my beauty journey (a fancy way of saying I have a beauty addition), I have tried quite a few face oils on my acne prone skin. In the beginning, I was scared that oils would break me out something fierce, but in my experience, I’ve found that as long as I use natural and organic face oil varieties, my face does just fine. In fact, in many cases, it’s been better than fine and actually helped to greatly improve my skin. These particularly helpful face oils really helped keep my skin nourished, soft, calm, and breakout free. These are the best face oils to keep your skin in top shape all year long without a breakout in sight so keep reading!

African Botanics Pure Marula Oil / May Lindstrom Youth Dew Serum

Kahina Giving Beauty 100% Argan Oil / Leakey Collection 100% Marula Oil

First up is the Pure Marula Oil from African Botanics. This oil is rich in vitamins C & E as well as many omegas (building blocks of skin) and the oil is completely chemical and preservative free. If you’re unfamiliar, marula is harvested from marula tree nuts mainly in Africa. The oil is a miracle worker for my skin. It helps calm redness, soothes and heals breakouts, heals past acne scars and is surprisingly hydrating without being overly oily. In fact, it’s absorbed readily into the skin within minutes, but it doesn’t leave my skin feeling too dry or too oily – just right.

Second is the May Lindstrom Youth Dew Serum. This serum is amazing in that it combines a blend of wild harvested and organic potent plant oils with CoEnzyme Q10, a vitamin-like substance that is naturally produced within the body already, but that decreases with age. It assists the basic cell function of every cell in the body, including your skin. Therefore, it is thought to help improve your skin’s natural ability to run more efficiently ie; heal faster, turnover cells more quickly (less wrinkles, dullness), etc. The scent of this is herbal, but pleasant and lovely to use. I really love it when used in conjunction with the Clean Dirt also from ML. All of May Lindstrom’s products are amazing. I’ve reviewed them all over this blog so just plug her name into my search bar if you want to see others 🙂

The Kahina Giving Beauty 100% Argan Oil is a more recent discovery, but a lovely one nonetheless! Argan oil is especially beneficial for those who might have sensitive and/or overly oily skin, but also deal with acne. It’s a nice, light oil with a subtle nutty scent that absorbs very quickly into the skin. I really like how light this is and I think it’s a perfect choice for summer, especially if you tend to be extremely oily. At the same time, it’s great for hydration and calms irritated skin very well. I think this can be used in a great number of ways as a face oil, body oil, nail and cuticle oil, hair oil, etc. It’s a great multi-purpose oil for those who want a multi-functional product. Aside from that, I’m impressed with Kahina Giving Beauty’s efforts to improve the lives of the women who harvest the argan oil in Morocco.

Leakey Collection’s 100% Pure Marula Oil is probably my all-time favorite of these 4. Even though it’s quite a simple oil, it reacts very well with my skin. It’s super hydrating (without being oily) and it’s one of the few oils I’ve tried that doesn’t feel drying when used alone. The smell is pleasant, it goes on like a dream, and really does seem to improve the condition of my skin whatever that may be. Be it redness, wrinkles, or acne, this oil has a positive impact on my skin. Also, I love the classy dropper bottle packaging. It always looks beautiful on my bathroom counter. As if that’s not enough of a reason to love it, the Leakey Foundation helps better the condition of the lives and of the women who harvest the oil and also work to improve and stimulate their local economy.

I’m starting to have a serious love affair with oils right now. I’m still scared to try out new ones since I’m acne prone. But right now my skin is loving the Dr.Hauschka normalizing day oil and the MUN oil at night.

    This post was really helpful!

Of course 🙂 I know the feeling. I try to use a face oil a few times a week and I see a noticeable difference in my skin 🙂 Can’t recommend it enough, but I understand forgetting haha. It took me years to nail down a skincare routine that worked for me and that I would remember to do lol.
