Things to Do in Las Vegas

Random Friday Favorites | Things I’ve Been Loving Lately #45

Happy Friday Lovelies ♥

I hope you’ve all had an awesome week and are excited for the weekend! My sister’s visiting from Missouri so I’m excited to see her and my niece and nephew this weekend. I hope to get in some much-needed pool/chill time and maybe go to Disneyland on Sunday 😉 Since it’s summer and I know many local Californians (among other people) love to go to Las Vegas, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite places to stay, eat, shop, relax, etc. I grew up in California, but unless you’re a Californian, you might not know it’s a typical vacation for people to take. It’s nearby, fairly affordable to get a hotel for the weekend, and a fun trip that’s close enough to home to drive to. I’ve been to Las Vegas so many times and stayed in many of the hotels so I hope you guys find this helpful if you’re planning a trip there soon and maybe just looking for something new to do when you visit next.

Things to Do in Las Vegas

WHERE TO STAY // I’ve stayed in Las Vegas many times and despite there being a TON of beautiful hotels on the strip, my favorites might surprise you. I love the MGM Grand, having spent many LV stays there as a kid, but if you have kids or you’re on a budget, there are more affordable picks. For someone on a budget or looking for less trafficked hotels, the Rio, Gold Coast, Golden Nugget, and Excalibur are all good picks. Excalibur is a lot more kid friendly than other places especially in terms of food and the price is very affordable for a on-the-strip hotel. The Rio is great if you want a good price v. value and their buffet is great for the price. They also have some cool things to do that are more geared toward kids than adults. The Gold Coast is very budget so there are not a whole lot of frills involved, but it’s a decent place to stay that’s near the strip and they have a delicious ice cream parlor in the hotel which was the most memorable part of it for me. The Golden Nugget is a wonderful mid-point if you want a hotel that has tons for children and adults to do. They have an amazing pool, a cool aquarium, and tons of other things to see and experience. They also have an infinity pool specifically for adults if you want to get away from the kids and the price is great. Other hotels that I really love, but I think are more geared toward adults include the Hard Rock Hotel, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo, Bellagio and the Mirage. If you want something further away from the strip, I once stayed at Harrah’s and it’s quite nice from what I remember with an arcade for kids and other fun things to do away from the often crazy LV strip.

WHERE TO EAT // There are an insane amount of places to eat and drink on and off the LV strip, but my favorites are the Rio Carnival World Buffet (if you’re on a budget), any of the restaurants in Mandalay Bay, Nobu Restaurant in Hard Rock Hotel (pricey though!), Bacchanal Buffet at Caesar’s Palace (for those seeking luxury level buffet experience), Martoranos at the Rio (expensive Italian cuisine), Island Sushi (off the strip), All American Bar and Grille at the Rio (somewhat affordable burgers, etc.), and a great place for breakfast is the Hash House A Go Go also at the Rio.

WHERE TO SHOP // There are a million places to shop on and off the LV strip, but my favorites are at the MGM Grand which has tons of unique shops, Fremont St, and specifically, I love going to M&M World where you can customize your own bag of M&M’s in a number of fun colors. It’s really just a fun place to go that’s not too expensive and doesn’t require your first-born so I like it! Some great shows are the Penn & Teller Show which mixes comedy and magic, Cirque du Soleil which is amazing acrobatics and spectacle, the fountain show at the Bellagio, and simply walking past the Paris Hotel’s Eiffel Tower replica is really cool as well!

RELAX // There are so many places to chill out and relax, but my favorites are the Mandalay Bay Spa and the Mandalay Bay pools. The spa is just amazing and has great service, though it’s pricey. The pools are incredible with sandy beach style wave pool, a lazy river, and other amazing amenities. The Golden Nugget is another one with an amazing pool experience, but if you’re looking more for a club scene centered around a pool, try Hard Rock Hotel Pool, the Cosmopolitan Boulevard Pool, and the Palms Hotel Pool all of which include more a nightclub atmosphere complete with music pumped into the pool water, poolside stage performances, and nearby poolside bars.

Yay! I’m going to Vegas for a day or two in between rotations in December! :O I’ve never actually been there except with my family, so this’ll be a first! I’m planning on seeing a Cirque du Soleil show and eating the world. <3 It shall be glorious!
