Things that Make Me Weird

I read a post about weird thingsΒ and I found it so inspiring and entertaining that I thought I should do one of my own because, we’re all weird in our own way, you know?

So, what makes me weird? Glad you asked.

I like to make up my own slang. Either I’m making up weird phrases that I think make me sound cool or I’m trying to bring book slang into real life vernacular. Usually, I just end up looking like a total nerd weirdo, but it doesn’t stop me from trying!

I argue with myself. Any time I have something on my mind that I’m unsure of, me, myself, and I have arguments about the situation in my head that goes something like this “No, don’t do that, that’s dumb.” and then “Whatever hoe, nobody asked you.” Kidding…kind of. πŸ˜›

My photo outtakes are always bizarre faces. I’m sure everyone has their own weird outtakes, but I like to deliberately make weird faces at the camera, you know, just to see what it looks like and for my own amusement.

I’m oblivious. It’s not that I don’t care or am inconsiderate of the people I love, but I genuinely find myself to be a scattered brained kind of person when it comes to noticing things like haircuts, new shoes, etc. I often notice weeks later and by then it goes something like Me: “Hey, did you get a haircut?” Person: “Yeah, like 3 weeks ago..” Me: “Oh,well…it looks nice..!”

I lurk people’s facebook pages. Yeah, I said it. I mean, come on, we all do it! Don’t we? Anyway, not the point. I totally do it all the time and I’m not ashamed to admit it. If we’ve spoken in any capacity on social media, I’ve probably lurked your facebook page. Sorry not really, I’m just a very curious nosy person.

I over-analyze in the strangest way. Sure, I do your typical over-analyzing like do I look horrible in this dress? or is there something on my freaking face? , but I’m not talking about those. I’m talking about the stranger musings I get up to like What if we were crocodiles? I also think about and ask strange hypothetical questions such as, what fictional characters do you relate to the most?Β or what movies defined your teen years?Β It’s just something I do. People fascinate me and I love learning about the interesting humans I know πŸ™‚

Delusions of grandeur. Sure, I might TOTALLY be royalty, lost in the wilderness of urban Southern California. It could totally happen and, you know, I’ve had a sneaking suspicion I was adopted ever since my brother kept telling me that when I was 5. -_- might be true…

I personalize all those drug infomercials. True story. I can no longer watch any drug infomercial about any kind of illness because I WILL personalize that shit and diagnose myself with some kind of illness within 5 minutes, tops.

Crime shows make me paranoid. My mom was one of those people who would watch every single episode of Forensic Files and Unsolved Mysteries every single night of my childhood so, of course, I ended up watching some of the episodes which really did a number on my paranoia. By the time I’d watched a few of those, I was going around the house locking every window and door before bedtime, no joke.

Β So, what are the things that make you guys weird? Do you guys do any of the weird shit I do or am I alone in the strangeness? I’d love to hear from you πŸ™‚

Now I’m thinking back to what’s on my facebook haha
I guess I’m very quiet and private when you first meet me, and I’ve known people for years who don’t know much about me / I’m still quiet when I see them. But if I feel we have a connection I totally open up about a ton of stuff, because I think we have all been through shit and sometimes it’s nice to hear we’re not alone.
I like weird foods like I genuinely love tofu and rice cakes.
I talk to myself a lot, in both French and English and sometimes in Spanish too

Haha I definitely think you’re right. I know I come off as super reserved unless I connect with people on a personal level, like you said. You just have to click with people. I like weird foods too! Like kimchi, daikon, and seaweed haha. So funny you mentioned talking to yourself in other languages! I took 3 years of Spanish and 3 semesters of French in college. There was a good portion there where I legitimately started thinking in those languages. It was bizarre since I’m a native English speaker.

I don’t watch scary movies because I will get so nervous that I can’t sleep. What makes me weird is that I am a psytrancer & live in Texas. Not many here. I also drive some hubs crazy because I take pictures of my food!

    1. March 22, 2016 at 3:10 PM

aw! such a bust! I don’t know why I really enjoy scary movies. The only ones I can’t handle are things like Insidious or Conjuring. Those totally freak me out lol. Being a psytrancer sounds like a lot of fun! I love taking pictures of my food too! My boyfriend looks at me like I’m a total nut every time I do it haha. thanks for sharing your thoughts, Ally!

I empathize with these on a spiritual level. Particularly on the delusions of grandeur.. πŸ˜‰

haha thanks Elly! Glad we have that in common then πŸ˜›

This is such a fun post idea! I guess I’d love to think and write something like this. It’s amazing how weird we are and how amazingly we embrace it! πŸ˜€

Love this! I can totally relate to MANY of these. Selfies…I just don’t get how people get good pictures of themselves, my photo roll after an attempted selfie is horrifying. I was just stalking these girls on IG that I was about to meet in real life and accidentally liked a picture from like 64 weeks ago, I was so embarrassed, but confessed πŸ™‚ I could go on. Great post Tianna!

haha glad I’m not alone. I know! I can never understand all those soft focus photos where everyone looks airbrushed. They know something we don’t lol. lmao!! I’ve so done that before. Not one of my finer moments, I admit, but hey, lurking is now a common thing and I’m not ashamed to admit that I totally want to know what people have been doing for the past, you know, year or whatever πŸ˜› glad you enjoyed my post, Shannon, and thanks for visiting! β™₯

I really enjoyed reading about what makes you weird. Our weirdness is what makes us special and unique. I think I may do a post like this too.

    1. March 23, 2016 at 8:18 AM

thanks! I’m so glad you enjoyed it πŸ™‚ I definitely think our weirdness makes us unique and shows a bit more about who we are as people. Definitely tag me if you do one! I’d love to read it πŸ™‚

hehehe, I’ve lived alone for so long that I tend to talk to/argue with myself too. (Usually in the sarcastic sort of, “Great job, Farrah! Please never do that again!” sense, hah.)

I like watching Criminal Minds even though it makes me super untrusting of basically all humans, hahaha. So bad. D: I tend to avoid scary movies though–there’s always a creepyass shower scene and it makes me really paranoid that I’m gonna die during my shower.

    1. March 29, 2016 at 9:35 AM

haha I totally do that too.

OMG yeah I literally can’t watch crime shows anymore – it turns me into a total neurotic paranoid person lol. OMG THE SHOWER! I do that ALL the time! Or like going into dark rooms, I tend to kick the door open with my foot first if it’s dark haha because you never know lol.

  9. March 30, 2016 at 5:48 AM

Haha, I do a lot of these things too. I talk to myself. A lot.

I absolutely adore your awesome weird. I embraced my weirdness years ago and help my daughter do the same. It is the weird and wonderful differences that make us unique and the beauty of kindred spirits in the weird we share. Thanks for sharing.
