The Best Natural Deodorants

It took me literally years to make the switch to natural deodorant because, if I’m honest, most of the natural formulas just do not work. They are terrible at odor control and whichever ones I tried left me smelling like onions by noon. I’m not a particularly smelly person, but I do live in hot, humid California so I didn’t give up on my quest for a more natural option for staying fresh and, after much trial and error, I’ve finally got a top 3 that are all solid natural deodorant picks for anyone looking for a more body safe deodorant formula.

The Best Natural Deodorants

  • Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant in Bergamot & Lime – This natural deodorant is great for anyone who’s looking for a cream formula that actually works. The scent is lovely and fresh and stands up for hours without diminishing. I smell nice and fresh for hours and hours, though one thing I don’t like about this formula is that extended use made my underarms dry. If you have an oilier skin type, it’s likely you won’t have this problem, but my body skin is quite dry and sensitive so that’s a side effect I found. Other than that, this is amazing and works wonderfully!
  • Soapwalla Citrus Cream Deodorant (no baking soda!) – This cream deodorant has no baking soda in the formula so it’s perfect for anyone who has a sensitivity to that particular ingredient or prefers a formula that’s more gentle. I don’t have trouble with cream deodorant that have baking soda, but they do leave my underarms somewhat dry. This one is much more friendly to those with sensitive or dry skin. On top of that, the scent is seriously amazing and keeps me fresh for hours!
  • Thesis Deodorant Spray – This natural spray deodorant is a different option than the other two. If you’re impatient like me or you find that cream deodorant is just too inconvenient, this spray is an awesome option. If your skin is super sensitive though, I can’t recommend this one. I love it because it’s a spray formula and it’s super easy to apply in comparison to cream deodorant, but the formula is steeped in tons of essential oils to control odor and kill bacteria. I only recommend it to people who don’t have sensitive skin or do sports and need something that’s extra potent at fighting odors.

Great picks! I want to give Soapwalla a try! I’ve been using Piperwai and absolutely loving it thus far!

thanks Taylor! I haven’t tried Piperwai yet, but will give it a look! Soapwalla is lovely and it’s a great one is you happen to be really sensitive as it’s both gentle, but effective at keeping odors neutral. Love the scent of it ♥

Great list! I have very sensitive skin and have found Meow Meow Tweet’s baking soda free deodorant works well without irritation. My current favorite though is a spray by Honest Company in Bergamot Sage. It took about 3-4 days for my body to adjust to using a spray but now it works great. As a bonus, it dries quickly and smells wonderful.

Thanks – I haven’t tried that brand, but I’ve heard good things. I don’t have any experience with Honest Company except that Jessica Alba is the face of it haha, but thanks for sharing. I’ll have to check it out!

I’ve never tried a natural deodorant, but now I really want to. I’ve never had any kinds of reactions to deodorants, but I’m all for switching to more pure products!

You really must try one! They’re a bit pricier, but definitely worth it and last a good few months before you run out. On top of that, they’re must friendlier on your body.

I’m using one from EO right now and I really like it. I don’t really sweat or have strong odors most of the time though, so I can’t vouch for people who need stronger stuff!
