Tabitha James Kraan Luxury Hair Care Review

I’m obsessed with trying new hair care lines because my hair is seriously fickle as hell. When I wash it, it looks wonderful and dries with tons of pretty volume, but as little as the next day, my hair is oily and flat. I realized long ago that my scalp is super oily and my mom has had the same problem so I simply thought it was genetic. Then, I was kindly contacted by Tabitha James Kraan who generously offered to send products for me to try out and review. She personally picked out products for my hair type and concerns and I’ve been trying them out for a few months now ♥

The Tabitha James Kraan Story

Tabitha, a self-professed hair geek, has worked for decades in the hair industry. Making magic and “happy hair” in her salon in Cotswolds, she’s re-teaching customers how to care for their hair using natural and organic products. With years of over-shampooing with conventional products, Tabitha knows we’ve stripped the life out of our hair (unknowingly) and wants to help! She worked tirelessly on products that could naturally cleanse without stripping hair of it’s natural oils (just like we do with oil cleansing our skin!), dry shampoo for oil absorption on non-shampoo days, hair oil treatments for a little extra TLC, and hair perfume because who doesn’t want their hair to smell amazing?

With a focus on natural and organic ingredients, Tabitha has worked to create products with ingredients that are ethically sourced for the good of people around the world and the planet we live on.

Believing heavily in the “law of similars,” Tabitha James Kraan sought out to develop products that helped correct hair and scalp problems by addressing issues of imbalance and irritation. She utilizes natural plant oils and essences in her hair cleanser and conditioner to help overly oily (and dry) scalps to reclaim balance and stop overproducing oil. On top of that, hair oil treatments further help balance scalp and hair while also helping the follicles heal, soften and hydrate. While this style of hair cleansing might feel unnatural at first, Tabitha says to give your hair 3-6 weeks to see the real difference!

These two are amazing together! They do not work like typical shampoo and conditioner sets, though. The Amber Rose Hair Cleanser smells lovely, like romantic rose, and gently cleanses hair without stripping it of it’s natural oils. It’s important to mention that this cleanser includes tons of healing plant oils to help balance hair that’s either overly dry or overly oil. It has very little lather, but instead gets quite milky when you massage it into your locks. One thing that takes some getting used to is the fact that when you apply this, it doesn’t give you the feeling of doing anything. It doesn’t have the feeling of lather to make you think “oh this is working,” but it totally works! The 4-in-1 Golden Citrus Conditioner smells lovely as well, includes tons of softening and nourishing plant ingredients to help your hair look it’s best. It’s unique in that it can function as a typical conditioner, leave-in conditioner, and even a styling lotion. Having used it in all 3 ways, I can say it works well in all these instances. As a hair conditioner, it’s quite light and softening. As a leave-in conditioner, it’s perfect for helping control frizz and flyaways and as a styling lotion, it works best when used on days when you plan to heat style or braid it. That’s just in my personal experience. I really love both of these, but superficially, I really wish the shampoo had more lather. That said, this hair cleanser works well to hydrate, heal and nourish hair without the lather anyway. Both products together are amazing at balancing out irritated, itchy scalps and hydrating dry hair types. I think very oily scalps would benefit as well, but you might need to use it for a bit before you really see a difference as balancing out the oils in your hair will take a bit. The immediate difference I notice directly after using these is that, once my hair is dry, it’s bouncy and voluminous, super soft and healthy with very little frizz, and it looks vibrant and shiny. I was worried that it would dry and feel heavy and oily due to the way the cleanser felt on my hair in the shower, but it really does work and the effects are most noticeable once your hair is dry!

This organic dry shampoo for darker hair was definitely my favorite product of this collection! It smells amazing, just like chocolate, and works incredibly well at absorbing excess oil, putting bounce back into hair, and not irritating my scalp in the process which I love. I also love that this one, in particular, is meant for dark hair and comes out in a brown colored powder so you don’t have to worry about white or gray cast like you might have to with other white dry powder shampoos. This is one I’ve used constantly since receiving it and will definitely purchase when I run out!

Organic Dry Shampoo for Darker Hair Ingredients: Manihot utilissima (tapioca) (o), oryza sativa (rice) (o), castanea sativa (chestnut) (o), sodium bicarbonate, cicer arietinum (chick pea) (o), arctium lappa (burdock root) (o), arthrospira platensis (spirulina) (o) theobroma cacao (cocoa) (o), anthemis nobilis (chamomile) (o), citrus limon (lemon) (o), symphytum officinale (comfrey) (o), solanum tuberosum (potato) (o), urtica dioica (nettle) (o), euterpe oleracea (açaí berry) (o) nigella sativa (fennel) (o), cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass) (o), pelargonium graveolens (geranium) (o), lavandula angustifolia (lavender) (o), styrax benzoin (benzoin), litsea cubeba (may chang) (o). (citral, geraniol, benzyl benzoate, benzyl cinnamate, citronellol, farnesol, limonene, linalool – naturally occurring components of essential oils) .

I love the idea of this product because I love hair perfumes and having my hair smell nice, even on non-shampoo days! Also, many mainstream hair perfumes tend to have alcohol in them and dry out your hair/scalp so I love that this is a more gentle version of that. That said, if you spray too much, fine hair types will find it weighs their hair down so use sparingly for best results or only when you’re doing specific updos or hairstyles if you don’t want your hair to lose volume.

Organic Hair Perfume Ingredients: Citrus aurantium (neroli flower water) (o), camellia sinensis (white tea) (o), urtica dioica (nettle) (o), malva meluca (mallow) (o), lavandula angustifolia (english lavender) (o), commiphora myrrha (myrrh), citrus bergamia (bergamot) (o), citrus limon (lemon) (o). (citral, geraniol, citronellol, farnesol, limonene, linalool – naturally occurring components of essential oils).

Last, but not least is this lovely scented organic hair oil. This hair oil has an odd smell which is somewhat floral, but that I can’t really place. To be quite honest, I didn’t really like the scent. That said, the oil worked really well on my ends before blow drying hair to control frizz and flyaways. On top of that, it’s a brilliant overnight or pre-shampoo treatment for hair that feels damaged, needs extra hydration and care, or maybe you color your hair frequently (like me) and just want to ensure your hair is as healthy as can be. This is the perfect hair treatment oil for that and works really well!

Scented Organic Hair Oil Ingredients: Argania spinosa (argan) (o), hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn) (o), carthamus tinctorius (safflower) (o), lycii fructus (goji berry), rosa canina (rosehip) (o), pelargonium graveolens (geranium) (o), rosa damascene (rose absolute), citrus aurantium (orange) (o), styrax benzoin, (benzoin), citrus aurantium (neroli), citrus limon (lemon) (o), (citral eugenol, geraniol, citronellol, farnesol, linalool, limonene, benzyl benzoate, benzyl cinnamate – naturally occurring components of essential oils).

What I Love ♥

  • Gentle 100% Natural and Organic Plant Formulas
  • Carefully crafted in England
  • Products are designed by Tabitha, a hairdresser, who has more than 3 decades of experience in the hair industry.
  • Gorgeous luxury packaging with eco luxe products that are gentle and safe to use!
  • Products are gentle, nourishing, and balancing to your hair and scalp.
  • Products work to get to the root of the problem instead of just covering it up.
  • Products use only the best plant ingredients with no harsh ingredients so your hair can stay as balanced, healthy, and pretty as possible.

Overall, I really loved using these products! The shampoo, conditioner and hair oil were amazing together at balancing out the oils in my hair and scalp  which I think really helped to keep my hair looking nice on non-shampoo days. The products also helped reduce scalp irritation and itchy scalp quite a bit so I was quite happy with that. On top of that, I loved using the hair perfume to make my hair smell nice and the gentle dry shampoo powder on days when I needed a little help in the volume department or wanted  to keep oil at bay. These products are wonderful and I love that they’re all natural and organically made. I think TJK put so much thought and love into their products which absolutely shows through when you use them. You can just tell they want you to have beautiful hair and for that I thank them!
