Surviving the Arctic Freeze: Winter Essentials

Surviving the Arctic Freeze: Winter Essentials!

We are in an absolute freeze here in the USA and despite the fact that I’m not really in a super cold area, it’s still unseasonably cold here in California right now. Since all of us are suffering from the freezing cold temperatures in some way or another, I thought I’d share my top picks for winter fashion, beauty, and health essentials to get you through this arctic freeze we’re having in one piece!

Suti Cleanse Organic Face Balm + Mask + Moisturizer {My Review HERE}, Egyptian Magic Skin Cream {My Review HERE}, Suvana Beauty PawPaw Honey Balm {My Review HERE}, Alpha-H Liquid Gold Exfoliant Toner {My Review HERE}, & Steamcream Inoubliable Tin {My Review HERE} ♥

All of these products are ones I’ve written about time and time again, but I’ll give a little bit on why I’ve included them in this post in particular so you can get an idea if you’ve never heard of any of them before and then decide which reviews you want to have a look at. The Suti Cleanse Organic Face Balm + Mask + Moisturizer is incredible. First off, it’s a massive multi-tasker. It’s first and foremost a cleansing balm, but it won’t clog your pores and it’s made with certified organic and wild crafted natural ingredients that won’t irritate skin. It’s super gentle and, if used with a clarisonic, will not leave a residue. If you use a muslin cloth or your hands, it leaves a slight residue, but personally in this weather, that slight soft barrier is welcomed. Aside from a cleanser, you can leave it on as a hydrating face mask, use it with a muslin and get gentle exfoliation, and obviously it’s super hydrating for skin.

The Egyptian Magic Skin Cream is one of my classic favorites because it’s a fix-all in the sense that it hydrates and heals anywhere and everywhere. I personally prefer to use it on my dry body skin, but you could use it on your face or anywhere and it would work just as well. It’s crafted from an ancient Egyptian recipe of honey, royal jelly and olive oil. The scent might be a little off-putting to some, but as I love the effects of this, I’ve actually come to like it over the years. Whatever the scent, the hydration effects of it are well worth using it no matter.

Suvana Beauty PawPaw Honey Balm is another cure-all balm, but I personally prefer to use it on my lips pretty exclusively. It’s all natural, organic, and formulated with honey and yes, healing paw paw. It seriously heals my lips in 24 hours which is incredible considering it’s all natural and doesn’t contain any of the nasties you see in conventional lip balms. I have also used this on cracked, dry hands and nails and it works well for that also.

The Alpha-H Liquid Gold Exfoliant Toner is now a longtime favorite of mine as it truly exfoliates skin and helps prep it for optimal moisture. You use it every 3 nights by itself and it goes on like a toner. You can feel a bit of a tingle, but once it’s dry, the feeling goes away. In the morning, you’ll find more radiant, soft and generally prettier looking skin. I highly recommend this one if you get dry patches. It will work wonders if used in combination with the Suti Cleanse Balm or Suti Purity Balm.

The Steamcream Inoubliable Tin is the latest tin released from Steamcream, but the formulation is the same. I love using Steamcreams for my hands and I constantly carry a tin in my handbag because I can’t be without it, especially in cold weather when my hands feel super dry. I also sometimes use it as a face moisturizer if I find my skin is feeling really dry and needs a pick me up, but I’m not at home. It’s gentle enough to use anywhere from your head to your toes and smells of lovely rose ( unintentional rhyming, I swear).

Stuart Weitzman 5050 Flat Boots, Free People Womens Faux Fur Loop Scarf, John Varvatos Star USA Black Leather Zip Wool & Cashmere Lined Gloves & Dior Leather & Rex Ear Muffs ♥

When I’m really cold, the first places I feel it are in my feet, hands and nose so I absolutely love wearing knee high riding boots all winter to get that extra layer of warmth. I’ll actually wear wooly socks as well to seal in the warmth. On top of that, I layer and wrap scarves inside of my coats/hoodies so I can seal that warmth in and I use scarves as a way to heat my nose every now and again as it gets really cold! My hands really need a lot of tender, love and care in the winter so I always go for lined gloves to keep them warm ( and seal in my hand cream! ) and these ones by John Varvatos look incredibly warm and stylish! Lastly, if it’s seriously cold out, my ears will get really cold also and I enjoy wearing cute ear muffs to remedy that.

♥ Winter Health Essentials ♥

Lavender Hot Chocolate, Aveda Comforting Tea, Chicken Stew with Butternut Squash & Quinoa, bkr Charcoal Heart Bottle, & Mixed Berries ♥

In the seriously cold weather, we all run the risk of getting sick, but there are easy ways to prevent illness, boost your immunity, and never have to kick back a million supplements or any medicine. One thing I become obsessed with in cold weather is tea. It’s my absolute winter crutch, to be honest, and I find myself forgetting to drink water because I drink so much tea and, obviously, it’s freaking cold out so who wants to drink cold water?! Aside from that, I do try to keep hydrated and carry my bkr water bottle with me, sometimes with lemon slices in it to give my body some added vitamin C and cleansing. Other important foods to eat include lots of leafy greens and veggies and there’s no better way to ingest those than by eating hearty soups and stews! Lastly, even though it’s bloody cold out, you can still enjoy winter weather and indulge a little in some hot chocolate and seasonal coffee drinks!

This is a great post! One of my favorite products that I would add is Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. It hydrates skin without clogging pores and is so lightweight. I have been using it like crazy lately to combat the bitter chill! Stay warm! 🙂
