Spring Fashion Trends 2016

There are so many awesome spring fashion trends coming out lately that I wanted to share some of my favorites that I think we should all try this year! Some are edgier than others, but you can always tailor the styles to your own fashion sense and tastes, in my opinion, so I hope this inspires you to take more fashion risks and look your best this year ♥

Sheer Lace, Slip Dresses & Other Lingerie Influences

One of the prettiest fashion trends I’m seeing a lot on the NYFW runways this year (from my computer LOL) are all of the lace, sheer, and lingerie influences. Some pieces have simple lace or sheer panels while others are straight up slinky slip dresses, many of which are totally see-through. It kind of reminds me a lot of the 90’s because I remember slinky dresses like that being super popular when I was younger. I like the more modern take of using lace or sheer as panels in various pieces or on the edge of skirts, shorts and tops. It’s very feminine, but can be combined with other pieces for a romantic or edgy look, depending on how you combine, layer, and accessorize.

feminine ruffles

Feminine Ruffles

Another trend seems to be feminine ruffles in a variety of pieces from dresses to tops, skirts, and jumpers. I don’t like this style in all pieces, but I think it can look particularly pretty and romantic in dresses which I think is perfect for spring weddings and other occasions.

rose print spanish influence

Roses + Spanish Influence

I’m obsessed with floral print as it is, but this year, there seems to be a huge trend with rose prints (which look amazing combined with lace and sheer!) and a particular Spanish influence in colors and cuts. Embellished sleeves, ruffles, and bright reds made an appearance in so many NYFW shows this year so it’s very apparent there’s a huge Spanish Rose vibe going around which I think is so stunning.

marled knits

Marled Knits

Marled knits are pretty, but I think they’ve been given a bit of a refresh this year which I really like! Short sleeved sweater knits, skirts, and shorts in a number of really pretty colors are so perfect for spring, especially during Easter! I just really love the textured look of it and I think it’s super comfortable to wear as well.

modern 70s fashion

Modern 70’s Inspired Separates & Colors

I’m not a big fan of 70’s fashion at all, but I know a lot of people are really loving it and every now and then, I see a piece I really, really love. Personally, I do really like the funky muted colors like all the beige and brown neutrals, muted mauve and navy, and the mustard colored tops. I also find that there are a few cool platform or flat-form shoes I like so there’s that.

Cut Outs

I really love cut outs when they’re done right. Done wrong, they look totally bizarre, in my opinion, and so I’m pretty particular about cut outs, but I think they can be really cool in some instances so that’s why I’ve included this trend in my list. They definitely can bring a cool aspect to an outfit for spring and summer.

eyelet fashion

All Kinds of Net

I love net in fashion! Fishnet, eyelet, funky lace net, wider net, etc.,etc. I love it all, pretty much. I just really love different textures and I love mixing them. Mixing fishnet and lace or sheer mesh, for instance, can be super sexy, edgy, and feminine if you do it right. Obviously, done wrong, you may end up looking really trashy LOL, but I digress.

victorian style

Victorian Style

Victorian style is one I’ll probably never get tired of. I so, so love old fashioned styles like high Victorian necked blouses with lace, but a modern style and cut, of course. I’m not trying to look like the evil stepmother from Cinderella or anything LOL. It stems from my love of Tuck Everlasting and A Great and Terrible Beauty. I just find the fashion to be very romantic.
