Skinny Skinny Black Pepper and Rose Organic Dry Shampoo Review

I’ve never had much success with dry shampoos, to be honest. They’re either leaving some hideous white or grey cast on my dark hair or they make my head itch. That said, the quest is never ending people. The struggle is real and I keep searching for that awesome dry shampoo because, damnit, my hair gets oily in the summer!

The gods must have known and shined down upon me because Margot from The Choosy Chick sent this among samples from her shop and I’m loving it! Not only does it not make my head itch or feel dry, it absorbs into my hair quite nicely with no white cast and gives my hair a little more life for 2 more days before I need to wash it. Thank you Margot!

The Skinny Skinny Story

A Brooklyn-based organic beauty brand, Skinny Skinny was started after founder Clara, an aromatherapist, began experimenting with her own homemade beauty recipes while making a gift for her mother. With that same love and care in mind, Skinny Skinny makes a line of beauty products that are all made from natural, organic, sustainable and biodegradable ingredients. The packaging, including the ink on the labels, are all made from biodegradable materials. All ingredients are free from harmful ingredients and are carefully researched for efficacy and effectiveness. Everything in the line is cruelty-free and vegan (except the lip balm). They don’t use any artificial ingredients or perfumes; all scents are formulated with natural essential oils. Additionally, they are 100% carbon neutral which means they use wind power for manufacturing alongside their biodegradable, all natural products!

Ingredients: Cornstarch*, brown rice powder*, white clay, horsetail powder*, baking soda, orris root powder*, rose & black pepper essential oils

*Certified Organic

Things to Love ♥

  • Vegan (except lip balm) and Cruelty-Free
  • Certified Organic Ingredients
  • Biodegradable Products
  • Eco-friendly Packaging and Labeling

Overall, I love this dry shampoo. The scent, while subtle, is spicy and floral, and dissipates as the powder blends with your hair. The powder easily absorbs excess oil in my hair and helps prolong my hair for an extra day or two before I need to shampoo it again which I love and am so thankful for. After having horrible experiences with dry shampoo from various brands, I’m so happy to have found this one!

You can learn more and purchase this dry shampoo and a number of Skinny Skinny products at The Choosy Chick.

This sounds like a fairly interesting product especially because the list of ingredients. I’ve never used a dry shampoo, when I am in the market to switch up my shampoo I’m going to look into this one. 🙂

A dry shampoo basically is a powder that extends the life of your hair for another day between regular showering/shampooing. If you find that your hair is dry from washing to often or if you, like me, get oily scalp but have dry ends, this is a great option to try. The powder absorbs oils on the scalp and in the hair and keeps it smelling fresh and voluminous 🙂 hope this helps!
