Today’s post features a lovely natural hair care brand called Rahua by Amazon Beauty which carries a lovely lineup of shampoos, conditioners, treatments, and styling products that utilize various botanical ingredients found in the Amazon rain forest – namely Rahua from which it garners it’s name. What’s quite unique about this brand is that their ingredients, which are gathered from the Amazonian rain forest, are extracted using indigenous methods and seek to preserve the raw potency of all ingredients with as little breakdown or processing as possible in the formulation process so the ingredients offer optimal benefits to hair.
I was kindly sent some sample sizes of their classic shampoo and conditioner, volumizing shampoo and conditioner, hair wax, voluminous hair spray and omega 9 hair mask which I have been testing out for over a month.
The Classic Rahua Shampoo and Conditioner are really lovely. They utilize Palo Santo, Rahua (Ungurahua) oil, Quinoa, Aloe, and many other ingredients to hydrate damaged and dry hair while fighting frizz and creating smooth, manageable locks. This set is noticeably more hydrating than the Volumizing set so if you have fine hair, you’ll want to go for the volumizing one as this set will weigh your hair down. If you have dry hair or colored hair, this set is perfect as it definitely helps smooth, soften and hydrate hair.
The Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner are very similar to the classic Rahua set, but less intensely hydrating and the overall effect when hair dries is a lot bouncier and voluminous than the classic set. The ingredients are also very similar to the classic set except that the Volumizing set includes some citrus and lemongrass ingredients to be a bit more cleansing and volumizing than the classic set. The scent of both the classic and the volumizing sets are basically the same and they basically smell like herbal, minty black licorice (or anise) which I really didn’t mind. If you don’t like that scent, don’t worry; it goes away when hair dries.
One cool additional use for both conditioners in both sets is that you can use them as leave-in conditioners, if you like, and also as styling creams so they are very multipurpose in that way.
The Rahua Hair Wax I tried out was great for keeping flyaways and frizz at bay, especially when braiding my hair and works especially well to do pompadour type styles or really polished updo ponytails and buns. Although I didn’t use it for this, you can also use it to get more definition with curls and smooth ends out.
The Omega 9 Hair Mask was one of my favorites from the Rahua line as it hydrates, softens, and just gives the hair a potent treatment that rejuvenates it, especially if you’ve colored or frequently style your hair. It aims to improve scalp health, revive dull locks and add shine, fortify hair strands, and preserve your color vibrancy. I definitely think it helps add shine and rejuvenate hair and I love that it uses botanical ingredients and plant oils that work to actually penetrate hair and infuse it with beneficial, hydrating ingredients.
The last product I tried out was the Rahua Voluminous Hair Spray and this was another of my favorites from the line as it uses various plant ingredients, including citrus and sugar cane, to give hair more bounce, volume, and hold for an overall more polished look. I really loved this for giving my hair more volume and movement as well as more texture because I have a lot of hair, but it is really fine so it can tend to just fall flat without product help and this was really great for styling without weighing my hair down.
Overall, I really love this hair care brand. My favorites were the volumizing hair care and the voluminous hair spray and omega 9 mask. The others worked well, but are more formulated with thicker, more damaged or dry hair that needs the extra hydration. At the moment, my hair needs light nourishment with lots of body and these products definitely did the trick! I highly recommend them as I definitely think they are worth a look if you want a more natural hair care line that utilizes a lot of herbal and plant ingredients in a variably natural state.
