Love is not always the easy choice.
It’s easy to hate, to judge, to generalize, to marginalize, and to dismiss. Whether you relate to someone or not, we are all connected as human beings on this planet earth and that, to me, is connection enough to choose love. Life is too short.
In light of what happened in Dallas last night, what’s been happening with all the terrorist attacks in Medina (and beyond), and the horrific police encounters that have ended in tragedy, I wanted to take a quick break from my regular scheduled content to talk to you guys about these issues and to urge you to please choose love.
I know that we all probably come from different walks of life, we all have different experiences and points of view, and we all have our own personal struggles. No one person is the same and that’s a beautiful thing, in my opinion, but it also has the power to drive us apart just as much as it can bring us together. WE CANNOT LET IT.
We must rise together, as human beings, and fight together for a better future. And I mean that in as peaceful way as possible.
Violence is never the answer. Contrary to the popular saying, fighting fire with fire doesn’t solve a thing. It only makes change feel more bloody and horrible. It leaves innocent people dead and families torn apart by grief. All of this just, truly, hurts my heart. There’s got to be a better way.
Please take a moment today and choose to spread love, kindness, and positive vibes to your fellow man.
I urge you, in whatever way that you believe, to please take a moment today and choose to spread love, kindness, and positive vibes to your fellow man. Sadly, it seems that hate, anger, blame, and violence are becoming more synonymous with everyday life. And while it’s sometimes easier to give in to the hate, I urge you all to choose a different path. One which holds it’s effectiveness for change in simply existing, practicing what you preach, and showing people another way.
We are all fighting our own silent battles that nobody knows a thing about and we can all do with a little kindness from our fellow humans.
So, please. Take a moment out of your day and put some positive vibes out into the world. Smile at a stranger, open a door for someone else, give a compliment, lend a hand, pay for someone’s coffee or lunch, introduce yourself to someone new, help someone in need, or simply keep the peace.
There’s enough negativity in the world to last a lifetime. Don’t let it rule yours.
And if you are fighting for change or looking to be heard, then just know that I’m with you, I support you, and I hope you find peace of mind amid the struggle. There’s no louder voice than the peaceful, persistent one as shown by Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr. and many others.
I’ve had the heaviest heart all week long. Between the careless murders of those in Medina to those in Minnesota, Baton Rouge, Dallas, and beyond. The world seems a cruel and dark place to me, at the moment. I hope that, even in the midst of this, together we can find a better way. If you’re struggling with something, whatever it is, I just want you to know that I send you my love and heartfelt compassion. You are not alone. We are all in this together, as cheesy as that may sound.
