MAC Studio Sculpt Lash Mascara Review
Back in March, I shared this post talking about why you all need to run out and get the MAC Studio Sculpt Mascara. At that point, I hadn’t yet tried it, but I had such a ridiculously long love affair with an old Rimmel mascara in high school, one that had a comb type wand like this one, that I was sure I would absolutely positively love this one as well.
So, I did go out and purchase this mascara literally the week I ran that post because I was convinced it would fulfill all of my mascara desires and I thought I would share my experiences with this mascara just in case you guys are looking for that perfect mascara or maybe you were considering this one and aren’t sure how well it will work for you.
First off, this mascara is kind of weirdly designed. It’s not just a comb wand. The mascara comb wand is in a weird V shape and has a set of two combs that you run your lashes through. The idea is that you’ll get double coated lashes with one application. The combs work to keep your lashes coated in mascara while also separating them so they don’t clump up.
When I first purchased this mascara, it was so not love at first use. I was actually really disappointed because the tube has so much mascara in it that the mascara gets all clumped up in the wand. If you apply it to your lashes (like I did my first try) as you might any other mascara that you buy, without first wiping the wand down a bit, then it results in horribly clumpy, gloopy, mascara everywhere on your lashes and lids. It’s a complete MESS.
Now, after that horrid experience, I put the mascara aside with a whole lot of sadness that it didn’t seem to work for me and kind of forgot about it. Yesterday, I decided I would try it out again and see if maybe it would be different. The difference this time is that I cleaned the mascara comb wand applicator thoroughly on a tissue before applying any mascara. This, it turns out, is the difference between amazing, luscious, long, voluminous lashes and a complete train wreck.
I am now so incredibly WOW’ed by this mascara that I’ve binned most of my other ones. This wand is beyond compare when you find the sweet spot for how much product to use. It doesn’t need a whole lot; just make sure the wand isn’t covered in product because it’s kind of runny and gets everywhere. Go with less at first and build up. Your lashes will look AMAZING. Also, this wand is quite flexible and the teeth of the comb wand are incredibly gentle to use.
I couldn’t be happier with this mascara now that I’ve figured out how to use it properly and yes, I stand by my original statement that if you want amazing lashes that look like falsies, but aren’t, then you want to go out and get this mascara! This replaces my previous HG mascaras – the Diorshow Extase Mascara and the Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara.
It is literally the best mascara I’ve ever tried. ever.
