 HANA Organic Skincare Review

A few months back, I was sent some small samples to try out from HANA Organic Skincare and I’ve been loving it because their line is uniquely made by founder and herbalist, Karen Ries, who created the brand as a way to offer natural and certified organic products to people that didn’t include potentially harmful ingredients like most mainstream brands. Her line is beautiful, intuitive, and unique. On top of that, they sent me a sample of one of their newest products: SPF Everyday Creme ♥

The HANA Organic Skincare Story

Karen Ries, certified herbalist and founder of HANA Organic Skincare, created the brand in 2011 after being fed up with the amount of toxic, harsh and potentially harmful ingredients found in mainstream skincare products. Making her products with only the purest, most natural and certified organic ingredients, including medicinal herbs from her very own garden, she lovingly crafts each one in a small batch to preserve freshness and quality. Thus, HANA Organic Skincare was born. The name of the brand is after Karen’s daughter, Hana. Because many of us suffer from skin sensitivities brought on by harsh skincare, Karen creates products that are gentle enough for anyone to use.

Lavender Cleansing Grains

These cleansing grains are super gentle and a little messy! The formula comes in dry powder-like grains of oats, flowers, ground almonds, white clay and floral essential oils of rose and lavender for softening and soothing effects. The scent of this is heavily influenced by the lavender, though it’s not overpowering; just very relaxing to use. This is a little messy to use as a cleanser because the grains tend to go all over the place. You mix them with a little water and massage into your skin much like you would with a scrub, only this is much gentler. It does gently exfoliate, but there’s no feeling of abrasiveness to this at all. I can definitely see why this brand is so well known for being gentle enough for sensitive skin because it truly is. The clay provides a slight astringent effect, detoxing pores, rose and lavender soften skin, and the blend of ground seeds, oats and almonds helps gently exfoliate without causing any irritation. The result is brighter, softer, prettier skin. I’m not a big fan of cleansing grains like this just because they are so messy that sometimes I can’t be bothered. That said, I love using this one in the shower when I don’t have to worry about it getting all over the place because it really is a lovely cleanser to use when my skin needs a little extra love. You can also mix the grains with a little water or some honey to form a paste and use it as a face mask. As a mask, it works wonders on dull, irritated, and rough skin.

Ingredients: white clay; *oats; *+almonds; *poppy seeds; *rose centifolia (rose); *lavendula officianalis (lavender); *calendula officianalis (calendula); *lavender & rose essential oils

*certified organic ingredient +Demeter ® Biodynamic ® ingredient ♥ Gluten-Free/Vegan product

Gentle Face Toner

This face toner smells lovely! It’s super relaxing to use with my nighttime skincare routine because the scent is subtle and very relaxing. Rose, lavender, and ylang ylang give this a beautifully floral scent and help calm skin while aloe soothes and hydrates. The blend also helps balance your skin’s natural pH levels and is the perfect way to refresh any skin type that needs a little extra love. I love using this one at night before bed, but it’s also great to use right when I get home from work to help me wind down. I love that this helps do so much for the skin, but the scent alone is really nice just for it’s aromatherapy benefits.

Ingredients: *rose hydrosol; *^aloe vera gel; *vegetable glycerin; *ylang ylang, *lavender & *lemon essential oils

*certified organic ingredient ♥ Gluten-Free/Vegan product

^contains trace amounts of potassium sorbate, citric acid and xanthan gum

SPF Everyday Creme

The Everyday Creme is a lovely face cream with SPF15 sun protection included in the formula. The cream includes 12% non-nano zinc oxide for UVA/UVB broad spectrum protection and, surprisingly, leaves absolutely no white cast on skin at all. It’s very smooth, softening, hydrating, and smells great. Plus, it’s so easy to blend onto skin; it just feels like any normal day cream. It’s perfect for your everyday activities, though they don’t recommend it for extended days at the beach or in the sunshine. That said, I think this works brilliantly to combine your face moisturizer with sun protection and I think you could even use it as a primer if you wanted to. It’s a lovely moisturizer; not too oily or too light, but just right (unintentional rhyming).

Ingredients: Filtered beeswax; non-nano zinc oxide; *vegetable glycerin; vitamin E; Leucidal liquid SF ECOCERT; *geranium & *lavender essential oils

**certified organic ingredient, Cruelty-Free, and 100% Gluten Free

Things to Love ♥

  • Perfect for Any Skin Type, Including Sensitive Skin
  • All natural and certified organic ingredients
  • Cruelty-Free Certified
  • Most products are Vegan (some cremes include beeswax or honey)
  • Many products are Gluten-free
  • Handmade in small batches for freshness and quality

Overall, I am loving HANA Organic Skincare products! Their line is really simple, but that’s one of the things that makes it stand out. Each product is made with so much care and attention to detail. All products are uniquely made to be gentle, yet effective for all skin types and I love that about this brand. I also love the gorgeous packaging and the dedication to pure, organic ingredients as well as their efforts to create products that are cruelty-free, vegan, and even gluten-free which is something not all brands care about. On top of that, their products are handmade in small batches which is something I like because I think mass manufacturing is bad for the environment and also encourages brands to put more unnecessary junk in their skincare so I love that this brand doesn’t do that. Their Everyday Creme is a brand new product alongside a new lip balm they’ve just released as well.

On top of that, HANA Organic Skincare is offering 20% off their entire website for a limited time so you can get any number of items at a discounted price! No coupon code or anything required; all discounts have already been applied on their site to eligible products.

You can find these products at HANA Organic Skincare ♥

I have such sensitive skin that organic and cruelty free brands are usually the way to go for me! I’d never heard of HANA before this, but am so glad you’ve brought this out. The bottles and tubs look so chic and beautiful, and the products sound divine!
