 Gothic Pop Art Halloween Makeup

Today’s Halloween makeup look is inspired by all the pop art makeup looks, but with a bit of a gothic spin on it! I started out my applying my Hourglass Veil Fluid in Porcelain and contouring my face a little with the Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow. Then I went in and added all the dots, lines, and did my eyes, brows and lips.

In order to create this look, all you really need are 2-3 contrasting colors. I used a mix of 3.

I used MAC Pro Acrylic Paint in Black to do my eyes, brows, and the lines to shape my face and expression. A lot of pop art uses simple lines to imply surprise or shock, sadness, or anger and I’ve just followed that formula. The other colors I used were MAC Pro Acrylic Paint in White to do the pop art dots on one side of my face and then I used Jane Iredale Jelly Pot Gel Eyeliner in Purple to do the other side of my face. It looks dark here, but in person, it’s a lot more apparent that the color is purple. I also utilized Revlon Matte Lip Balm in Shameless for my lips.

And that’s pretty much it. The hardest part about this look is doing the dots which is 1. time-consuming and tedious and 2. difficult to get all the dots the same shape and size.

I recommend using a pointed thin brush as that made it easiest and taking your time. Also, some people put little tear designs under one eye to make the look seem like you’re crying, but I kind of thought it looked lame so I didn’t do it. That being said, if you google other pop art makeup looks, you can see them and decide if you want to include that or not.
