Farm to Girl Skincare Review

Farm to Girl is a lovely indie skincare brand which carries a variety of products including organic creams for face and body, nutrient-rich lip balms, and gorgeous natural sea sponges for a number of uses!

The Farm to Girl Story

Farm to Girl began when founder, Dr. Kim Warren-Rhodes, was studying for her Ph.D at Stanford. Upon discovering the potential harm that the chemicals in our food and beauty products could cause to the human body and the environment, she sought out another way. After engaging in studies in various remote countries like Solomon Islands, Namibia and Micronesia, Kim wanted to find a way to create the products of her dreams while also helping the wonderful women in these far off communities. Refusing to believe that beauty had to be anything less than pure, sustainable goodness from the earth, she created Farm to Girl, an all natural beauty brand which focuses on doing good business, good deeds, and creating products that are safe for you and the planet earth. Partnered with her childhood best friend, Kristen Pokky, they worked together to source ingredients from the places Kim had studied in order to improve the lives of the people she’d met there and also create safe, sustainable products that do both global and local good. The most amazing part? They are so dedicated to their mission that 20% of their profits go to women’s health and education. They are currently helping to fund a rural women’s health clinic ♥

Fountain of Youth Face Cream – This face cream is a bit more rich in texture than the others and the formula is VERY simple, but effective at hydrating and softening your skin. Utilizing beeswax and coconut, almond, and marula oils, this cream is meant for those who need extra love, protection and hydration. I loved using this cream on cold days or if my skin was feeling particularly parched, but I think dry and sensitive skin types will see the best results from this. That said, this is amazing to use as a hydration mask, especially since I keep these creams in the fridge, so it feels both hydrating, soothing, and cooling on the skin.

Ingredients: Filtered water, organic virgin coconut oil, sweet almond oil, marula nut oil and beeswax.

Namibian Miracle Face & Skin Repair – Utilizing marula nut and ximenia plant oils, this light lotion is formulated with vitamins and a variety of other plant essences to aid in healing, softening, and smoothing your skin while fighting aging. I love the light feel of this lotion! It’s both light and extremely hydrating and I love that it utilizes my favorite plant oil – marula – in the formula. This plant oil is just a miracle-worker for hydrating and fighting aging in the skin. Marula and ximenia are both rich in omega fatty acids, the protein building blocks of skin, and help rebuild your skin cells. I definitely see a huge difference in my skin while using this and since I kept it in the fridge, it always felt so cooling on my skin!

Ingredients: Spice Blend: Filtered water, safflower oil, coconut oil, ximenia oil, glycerine, marula nut oil, vitamin E, D-panthenol, orange oil, patchouli oil, ylang ylang oil, neroli oil, xanthan gum and dehydroacetic acid.
Lavender Blend: Filtered water, safflower oil, coconut oil, ximenia oil, glycerine, marula nut oil, vitamin E, D-panthenol, organic lavender essential oil, xanthan gum and dehydroacetic acid.

Natural and Sustainable Sea Sponges – This bath and shower sea sponge is in partnership with the NGO Marine Environmental Research Institute of Pohnpei and is grown and sold by Micronesian fishers. They are approximately 4-6 inches in size and SO soft! I love this sponge! This naturally made sea sponge has so many benefits to it! It helps support Micronesian farmers/fishermen while also aiding in the prevention of overfishing on coral reefs. The sponges are also reusable, biodegradable, and resistant to mold and mildew! I loved using the cosmetic size sea sponge to apply my foundation and BB creams! It’s a wonderful non-toxic and eco-friendly option for those who love using sponges like the beautyblender, but want to make the switch to something more natural. Also, the bath and shower sea sponge was SUPER soft and gently exfoliates skin in a way that’s not nearly as abrasive as your store bought loofahs, plastic bath puffs, or bath gloves.

Overall, I am a HUGE fan of Farm to Girl since discovering their products! Their products are wonderfully effective, but also very simply formulated. There’s nothing crazy going on with the product formulas, yet they really do work quite well. I love how gentle everything is and I love their brand’s mission to help local and global farmers, assist in global initiatives that are eco-conscious as well as humanitarian efforts, and their dedication to the causes they believe in. Many brands often say they are for charity and other causes, but very few are willing to go as far as donating 20% of profits to the causes so if that’s not a good reason to try this brand, I don’t know what is!
