Sustainable Style

I’ve talked a lot about the reasons you should go green with your purchases in beauty and fashion so I thought it would be good to share some ethical holiday dress picks here on the blog to prove that eco and ethical fashion can be both beautiful AND affordable. There are several ways you can go about dressing ethically this holiday season. The first is by purchasing a used dress at either a thrift store or consignment shop. You can find some wonderful vintage dresses there or on etsy and both have some really affordable and beautiful holiday dress options which will be eco-friendly. If you want to abstain from purchasing anything which you don’t know the origin, the best way to go is with ethical holiday fashion picks from an etsy seller who hand makes their line of clothing or an online shop which specializes in selling only brands which craft their clothing from sustainable, local, and ethically traced sourced. They also tend to use earth-friendly materials, fight for a fair wage and fair trade when purchasing materials, and usually avoid using animal materials on the whole. Some of these can be on the more expensive side of things, but you may be surprised at how many of these options are either on-par with your regular holiday dress options or even cheaper, in some cases. I’ve gathered a few of my favorite ethically made holiday dresses you can wear this holiday season without a care ♥

My favorite is a tie between the first dress and the Ballet dress. I love them both. I also love the idea of getting a dress on Etsy. I never actually looked for clothing there before…usually just jewelry or craft stuff. Thanks!

I wear vintage and vintage inspired clothing all year. I really love the suggestion of using vintage to be more eco-friendly. I got a new-to-me vintage coat and fur collar cardigan this fall and I can’t wait to wear both! The coat is red so it’s perfect for the holidays.

I love these options! My first priority is always that my clothing be vegan, but eco-friendly materials and ethically sourced are high on my list as well. I absolutely LOVE vintage shopping on etsy! So addictive.

Yeah. I haven’t switched my wardrobe over to all ethical fashion yet, but it’s a slow process that I’m working on. I love shopping on etsy as well!

thanks Rachel! I know! I think a lot of people imagine that ethical fashion is either hideous or ridiculously expensive and the truth is that it’s not that hard to adjust your shopping habits to purchase more ethically/eco-consciously.
