Don’t Freak Out: DIY Halloween Costumes from Your Closet

Happy October!

The month has finally arrived and I’ve got so many cool things in store for you all so check back with me every week and stay tuned for tons of Halloween makeup looks, costume ideas and more!

I know Halloween can feel really stressful. Finding something cute or clever to wear, but that also looks good and isn’t super expensive can be tough. That’s why today I’m sharing some DIY Halloween Costumes you can create straight from your closet with things you already own.

DIY Halloween Costumes from Your Closet

Doll, Princess, Bunny, Masquerade or Ghost:

Makeup Must-Haves:

Witch, Cat, Dead Girl, Sugar Skull or Skeleton:

Back in high school, I was really into rockabilly/psychobilly music and I went as the literal “Dead Girls Don’t Cry” from the Nekromantix. It involved my black skinny jeans (which were already ripped in the knees), a DIY ripped t-shirt, and some dead girl makeup.

Halloween is so easy to customize and make your own so don’t be afraid to think outside the box and celebrate any way you like. You don’t have to go out and buy some expensive costume every year; you can do amazing things with what you already have if you just indulge a little imagination and creativity.

Will You DIY Your Halloween Costume or Buy One This Year?

me too! I think they have a lot more character than store bought ones which are seriously expensive. Growing up, I spent a lot of my pocket money on store ones and by the time I was in my teens, I started making my own ideas. It helped that my halloween costume ideas were always too obscure to have a costume haha. will you dress up this year?

I love using what I already have in my closet then adding accents like temporary tattoos and false eyelashes and makeup. It’s so fun to be able to use these things forever.

me too! I love re-tooling things I already own to make something unique. It’s also awesome that people won’t have the same look as much because of this. Thanks for stopping by Jessica!
