Celebrating Spring Equinox

Celebrating Spring Equinox

Happy first day of spring! Also known as the spring equinox, this is the day when the seasons shift from dark to light.

In fact, during spring equinox, we experience equal (or almost equal) hours of both daytime and nighttime.

Equinox literally means equal night. We experience equinoxes twice a year; one during spring and one during autumn. It’s a wonderful time to refresh yourself and get inspired for new experiences, achievements, and enjoyment.

When it comes to celebrating spring equinox, I’m very enthusiastic. Maybe it’s because I was born in April, but I love the spring. The fresh, clean air and the brighter days ahead. I also love that there is rain and breezy days thrown in there because well, rain 🙂 So, whenever spring equinox hits, I get very excited! After becoming pagan, it’s become even more important for me to celebrate the changing of the seasons so I felt inspired to share a few fun ways you can celebrate the unique shift in the seasons.

Dig garden, Plant seeds - Celebrating Spring Equinox

Start Your Garden Already!

For pagans, being involved with nature is a big part of our faith and practice, but it may not be so with everyone and I get that. That said, if you are interested in starting a garden (pagan or not), I definitely recommend doing so in early spring! You can start easy with simple herbs, wildflowers, or even buy some plants from a local nursery if the idea of germinating seeds intimidates you.

Pick up some flowers or plants - Celebrating Spring Equinox

Treat Yourself to Some Spring Flowers or New Houseplants

If gardening isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy the benefits of brightness of plants by purchasing some flowers for your table to brighten up your home or some indoor houseplants that are easy to care for and will clean the air in your home.

Decorate Eggs - Celebrating Spring Equinox

Decorate Some Eggs!

This may seem like a strictly Easter thing to do, but it doesn’t have to be 🙂 Decorating eggs is so much fun and you can be sustainable about it by coloring your eggs with natural dyes using onion scraps, beet root, and blueberries instead of traditional food coloring.

Explore Nature - Celebrating Spring Equinox

Explore Nature.

In my opinion, there’s no better way to enjoy the signs of spring than by getting out into nature. You can do this by going on a hike, walking around your local forest or beach (depending on where you live), or gardening. Look for new sprouting plants, breathe in the clean air, and refresh your soul and inspiration.

Fresh Spring Meals - Celebrating Spring Equinox

Enjoy A Fresh Spring Meal!

Enjoy the fresh flavors of spring by baking some bread, fruit infused pastries, enjoying some chopped up fruit and veggies, or making a fresh spring salad with produce from your local farmer’s market.

Start A New Adventure! - Celebrating Spring Equinox

Go On An Adventure!

I set my goals during Imbolc, but I will be taking time to check in with my list during the spring equinox and see where my progress is. It’s a great way to continue the new year’s resolutions you made in January for anyone who dropped off. It’s also a wonderful time to set fresh goals if you didn’t set any yet, to make a fun bucket list of ideas for the season, or to simply commit to a new adventure whether it’s in fitness, fun, health, or life. Life is happening right now, as we speak, and it’s time to dig in, wouldn’t you say?

Here’s to your most fulfilling spring season yet ♥
