The Ritual of BEING: BEING Apothecary Review

The Ritual of BEING

It’s not often that I meet someone with whom I get an immediate feeling of recognition with, but that’s how I felt when I first spoke with Cynthia, founder of BEING Apothecary. You get the feeling that she’s truly passionate about what she does and the products she creates. After an exhausting career in marketing in New York City, often experiencing high levels of stress and a constant flow of heavy workloads, Cynthia would often escape to the local spa for a temporary reprieve.

Realizing that occasional spa treatments can only go so far, she felt that only a consistent daily ritual could truly improve lives in the long term so she set out with a desire to help others take time out to care for themselves and indulge in a spiritual wellness ritual that improves your daily life every single day. Often times, we get so busy that we forget to take time out for our own sanity and peace of mind and we tend to put ourselves last.

BEING Apothecary Review

I know I’m definitely guilty of this and it’s a big reason why I was so drawn to Cynthia and her incredible goals to help people in being more mindful and happy with her lovely rituals. BEING aims to change the disconnect we all can feel in this fast-paced world by offering beautiful skincare products that not only nourish your skin, but also feed your soul and spirit. So, naturally, I had to review them! 😛

“Minimalist + Impact-Free + Socially Responsible”

  • All products are 100% natural and 100% GMO-free
  • No preservatives, No artificial additives, No parabens, No synthetic fragrances or dyes, No soy-based ingredients, and No sodium laurel sulfate.
  • Packaging is recycled and glass so you can reuse them! The recycled packaging also includes shredded junk mail so there’s very minimal waste.
  • BEING works only with suppliers that do not text on animals and also with fair-trade certified suppliers
  • Cruelty-free and 100% vegan; testing is done on willing husband, family and friends, never on animals!

When it comes to the BEING products, one thing I really love is that each one is accompanied by a kind of mini-story and has a specific purpose to help you just be, to let go, to live a little more in the moment. The products are formulated with all natural and certified organic plant ingredients such as potent plant oils and extracts, essential oils and floral waters.

Hiwa Kai black lava salt and various other detoxifying salts and clays which all aim to help calm, heal, detox, soothe, and renew your skin in every way possible while also rejuvenating your inner BEING as well (see what I did there?). I was so lucky to be sent some products from BEING to try out and review for you all and I’m happy to report back my thoughts 🙂

DRIFT | SALT BATH (Hiwa Kai black lava salt)

This bath salt is SO lovely! It’s the perfect bath treat for when you want to wipe away the stress of the day, rid your body of toxins, and feel new again. The scent is pleasant, but fairly subtle, and not at all overpowering.

I love the simplicity of the ingredients. The formula includes a blend of certified organic Hiwa Kai Hawaiian Black Lava Salt and Dead Sea Salt as well as essential oils of cedarwood and juniper berry for a seriously detoxing bath experience with a relaxing, earthy scent. My favorite part was the earthy scent and the feeling of total relaxation during use!

Ingredients: Hiwa Kai black lava salt, Dead Sea salt, essential oils of atlas cedarwood* and juniper berry* – – – *certified organic

This is such an awesome face mist to use and I can see how it would be especially beneficial for oily and acne prone skin types. The tonic smells both floral and has a slight hint of herbal witch hazel to it. You have to shake it up to mix the oils and waters together before misting yourself and you can definitely feel a kind of toning, astringent effect afterwards, though it’s not drying or tightening at all.

The ingredients are also quite simple with a blend of witch hazel, lavender water, and various essential oils which help to soothe, heal and balance the skin.

Ingredientslavender water*, witch hazel extract*, rosemary antioxidant*, vegetable glycerin, essential oils of bergamot* and coriander* – – – *certified organic

RELEASE | MILK BATH (rose, sandalwood, & cocoa butters)

This was a wonderful bathing experience, though completely different from the Drift Salt Bath. The ingredients in this milk bath are a lot more soothing, softening, and sensual. The ingredients feel a lot more sexy, rather than detoxifying, and it makes sense with coconut milk, cocoa butter, West Indian sandalwood, and even tiny pieces of dried rose petal in the blend!

I love the scent of rose and sandalwood in this blend because I can see it being perfect to use right before a date night or maybe just feeling like my most confident self.

Ingredientscoconut milk, cocoa butter*, sodium bicarbonate, rose petals*, rose absolute and West Indian sandalwood essential oil – – – *certified organic

Final Thoughts on BEING

Overall, I really loved trying out the BEING Apothecary products very much! I love that despite having a selection of all natural, clean, and organically formulated products, they are all still very decently priced. I love that these products are formulated with unique, but simple ingredients and with each of them, a story of empowerment, triumph, or healing is included so they feel like much more than just skincare products and more like tools for living a fulfilled life.

I’d definitely eyeing LET GO and DETOX. I’ve never heard of BEING Skincare before, but I love how minimalistic the ingredients are.

those are both really awesome products! The face mask looks cool (blue tint) and it works so gently, but effectively. It’s really wonderful. And Let Go is just nice for oil control without drying my skin out .

I like it is all natural, though I don’t think I will like the detox clay mask because I had a messy experience mixing water to form some clay-like stuff..

haha I totally understand Cher. I’m not a fan of mess either. You can try applying it while in the bath or shower to minimize mess. I sometimes use a small bowl to mix and then apply in shower/bath with a mirror so it doesn’t get everywhere. One thing also is that this mask is really smooth. For some reason, it blends into water super easily. Hope this helps!

I have never tried or heard of BEING and their products. I like the design and the few ingredients they use. It is a nice touch with the holistic view – for skin and soul.

yeah I really like the idea of taking time out for the ritual of their products to relax, breathe and renew yourself. I always feel so dragged out by the amount of tech I’m doing with blogging, work, and life you know? It’s nice to think about stepping away from that once in awhile you know? thanks for visiting! ♥
