Special thanks to Somdyuti at Stilettosaurus for sharing this awesome Harry Potter tag!
If you’ve been following me since the beginning, you might know about my love for all things Harry Potter, but if not, you’re about to find out…
The Harry Potter books, in particular, were such a huge part of my childhood. So much so that you could probably say they were my childhood. I spent a lot of my adolescent years reading. I was known as “the smart girl” and many people even dubbed me with the nickname “dictionary” because I knew a lot of big words. I was basically bullied a lot of the time in elementary and middle school so I did what any kind would do. I hid behind books, avoided most people, and got my frustrations out in choir and drama club. So, when it comes to Harry Potter, I feel like for me at least, in the early days, these books were my biggest escape. If you haven’t read them, definitely do or at least watch the films as they are, on the whole, a pretty good adaptation of the series.
Accio! It’s the Harry Potter Tag!
1. What is your favorite book?
My favorite book is probably Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Mostly because it was the final chapter to a book series I’d been following for over a decade. That kind of gratification to all those questions cannot really be beat, but also because the story was just really great. Except the last words in the book ” All was well.” God, I really hate that ending haha. Every time I read it I feel like I’m reading Marry Poppins or something.
2. What is your favorite film?
My favorite film is a toss up between Deathly Hallows and Prisoner of Azkaban, but if I had to absolutely choose then it’d be Azkaban. I just love the crazy Knight Bus, the cinematography of this film was incredible, and I really felt like this was one film out of the series that truly captured the essence of the book it was adapting. Alfonso Cuaron did a brilliant job at it.
3. What is your least favorite book?
This book was the one that seriously freaked me out when I first read it. I was about 9 though, but yeah other than the creep factor, it doesn’t have much going for it. I like that it continued the story, but in my opinion, it’s the weakest link of the series.
4. What is your least favorite film?
This was a hard one to choose, but probably Half Blood Prince, purely because it was so inaccurate to the book. Why is the Burrow on fire?! Seriously. That shit did not happen. Aside from that, there were some seriously hilarious moments in this film with the actors that still makes it enjoyable.
5. Parts of the books/films that make you cry.
There are tons of parts that made me cry. When Sirius dies. When Dumbledore dies. When Fred dies with his last laugh still on his face. When Hagrid thinks Harry is dead. When Hedwig dies. But especially when Dobby dies. Mostly because he was so faithful and innocent and didn’t deserve to die. I feel like it really showed the senselessness of war and violence.
6. If you could hook up with any character, who would it be?
When I first read this question, I really had no idea. To be honest, I never thought of any of the characters in that way. Even though everyone always lusts after Draco (mostly because of Tom Felton IMO), I always hated him so I couldn’t get on that train. After some thought, I feel like probably either Fred or George are the best bet because they’re both brilliant in a less obvious way than the other characters and they are really funny which I think is important.
7. Who is your favorite character?
This was another tough one. There are so many characters to love in this series, even the most minor ones, but probably Sirius Black if I had to choose just one. He’s such a complex character and he’s always got these witty remarks, but at the same time says brilliant insightful things. Aside from him, there’s Snape (love/hate), Dumbledore, Hermione, Fred and George, and Hagrid (reminds me of my step dad).
8. Who is your least favorite character?
I think we can all agree that Umbridge was the most hated. God I wanted her to die such a painful death when I read the books! You don’t even know! Other than her, Rita Skeeter was a good runner up.
9. What is your least favorite line?
There probably isn’t one, but it’s safe to say that anything uttered by Umbridge or Skeeter definitely made me cringe. They were so hate-able.
10. What would your patronus be?
That’s so hard to safe. I have no idea, but I really liked Harry’s stag!
11. If you could have the Resurrection Stone, the Elder Wand or the Invisibility Cloak, which would it be?
Probably the cloak as we’ve seen how useful it can be. Also, I don’t want to talk to the dead versions of people I’ve known or kill people with the elder wand. They just don’t sound appealing.
12. Which house would you be in?
Gryffindor! I’ve taken so many online quizzes and it’s my favorite house. What’s really annoying is my boyfriend is clearly a Ravenclaw and he’s always trying to kill me with logic. So annoying!
13. If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?
It would be amazing to meet any of them, but if I could only meet one, then definitely Gary Oldman! He’s such an amazing actor and I’m just a huge fan of his, in general.
14. If you were on the quidditch team, which position would you play?
Definitely seeker. I’m okay with being in the game as long as I can run away from the bludgers and other players (while looking for the snitch lol). Not a big fan of heights as it is, but I’d definitely love to play seeker. Plus, I’m good at finding things! 😉
15. Were you happy with the ending?
As a whole, yes, but I really hated the ending in terms of the last 2 sentences. They just sound seriously stupid. Lol.
16. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
As I said in the beginning of this post, it was a huge escape for me as a child, but more than that, it was the one book series that I think truly influenced me as a person. It turned me into a lifelong reader when I don’t know that I would’ve been otherwise. The story itself taught me that friendship, bravery, honesty, loyalty, and being a good person are what matters most.
BONUS QUESTION FROM ME! What’s your favorite line from the Harry Potter films/books?
I have SO many, but this is probably my absolute all-time favorite: “It was, he thought, the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high. Some people, perhaps, would say that there was little to choose between the two ways, but Dumbledore knew – and so do I, thought Harry, with a rush of fierce pride, and so did my parents – that there was all the difference in the world.”
or “Turn to page 394.” Lol.
