Makeup Essentials for All of Your Scary Halloween Looks

Half the fun of Halloween is dressing up and doing some crazy {and possibly gory} Halloween makeup!

In order to get the best and most refined Halloween makeup looks, you have to have the right tools so I thought I’d share some of my favorite makeup items to use during Halloween in order to get makeup looks that have staying power and give you the results you want.

False Eyelashes – These are great for out-of-this-world costumes like fairies, vampires, or creepy dolls and witches. They have sooo many different eyelashes you can choose from including the doll eyes, feathered, glitter ones and various colors so pick one that goes with your costume and the overall look you’re going for.

Fake Blood – Everyone needs a little fake blood on Halloween! Especially if you’re out for a fun gory costume like a zombie or vampire, then you have to have your fake blood. I prefer the ones that come in little squirt bottles because they’re easiest to use and get realistic blood effects and they create the least amount of mess!

Cream Color Palette – This palette from MUF is the best for creating any Halloween look from a jester to a clown to skeletons, sugar skulls, ghosts, zombies, etc. There are the right amount of colors you can mix to get any shade you need and the pigmentation is incredible. Plus, like all MUF products, they have great staying power and go on smooth.

MAC Fluidline  – This is one of my favorites to use for any look that requires a lot of white or black pigment, like a ghost or skeleton or something because the pigmentation is great and you can use a liner brush to apply with precision if your look requires a lot of detail work. This is good for looks that won’t require other colors so you could just pick up some fluidline instead of the entire MUF palette which is kind of pricey so only get it if you plan on using a lot of the colors. Otherwise, a few colors in Fluidline is more cost effective if you’re only using black and white or something.

I used fake blood last year, unfortunately I found out that I was allergic to it. The next day my skin itched everywhere. It really is too bad because the effects you can get with fake blood are amazing.

Wow that’s a shame! I wonder if there’s a specific ingredient you’re allergic to.. You can always try making your own fake blood with food coloring, corn syrup, water and corn starch ( if needed) hope this helps!
