If you’ve been following along for awhile, you might know about my switching over to green beauty and I’m about 90-95% completely switched over. I have a few products here and there that aren’t quite all clean and green, but am pretty much green beauty all the way through at this point. Because I love green beauty so much and I’m such a promoter of these products that, really, are just as good if not better than mainstream ones, I thought it was time to share this post to prove it so I hope you enjoy ♥ If you haven’t tried green beauty products yet, I hope this convinces you to give it a try; I promise you won’t regret it!

10 Brands that Prove Green Beauty Isn’t Just for Crazy Hippies

Natural beauty products have often been associated with hippies, communes, and sage burning crazy ladies (not that I find that to be a bad thing, but I digress), but all that is changing and it has been for some time. Gone are the days of ugly packaging and weird products that are made of plants but don’t work; these brands prove green beauty can be just as luxurious as the designer stuff without all the harmful chemicals.

  1. May Lindstrom Skin – Arguably one of the most beautiful green beauty brands on the market, May Lindstrom harnesses the power of herbs, flowers, spices, and even dark chocolate (cacao) powder to bring us products that not only work, but are also packaged in beautiful dark glass. May Lindstrom, the founder, is a former model who formulates all the products herself in her LA boutique studio. She creates products that are not only natural and effective, but also an experience in and of themselves. With super catchy names such as The Problem Solver and The Good Stuff, these products work well without any toxic ingredients. If her website is any indication, it’s that you can enjoy all that nature has to offer in style. No creepy commune ladies here. Each product provides more than just effective skincare; they offer a ritual in self-love so pretty you’ll want to keep it all to yourself! See Also: Youth Dew Serum Review | The Good Stuff Radiance Oil Review | Problem Solver Face Mask Review | Honey Mud Cleanser and Blue Cocoon Beauty Balm Review

  1. Kjaer Weis – Kjaer Weis is like the Rolls Royce of organic makeup, but without the carbon emissions. They use no fillers, only natural and organic plant ingredients, which means their products last a hell of a lot longer than drugstore makeup. Their product packaging is both eco-friendly and extravagant. Made of top quality metal, KW embossed compacts come in a variety of sizes and house their equally top notch product formulas that are lovingly handmade in France. They’re certainly rewriting the green beauty stereotype, one gorgeous product at a time. If their luxury level prices don’t speak new-age designer, then hitting someone in the head with these compacts might because they’re seriously heavy. Utilizing certified organic and all natural ingredients, they’ve created a brilliant cream foundation, a line a eye shadows and lip tints, and a mascara that’ll have you saying, “L’Oreal who?” See Also: Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation Review

  1. Rare El’ements Hair – If the reason you stayed away from natural shampoos was because they lacked in the lather and foam department, this is one you’ll want to try! Rare El’ements is luxury hair care line designed by a salon expert with over 20 years experience and a model. Both were tired of using chemical-laden products that looked the part, but caused a lot of damage. Using the rarest ingredients they could find, they created a line of hair products to help heal and reverse the damage conventional products have done to your hair without sacrificing performance and product experience. The shampoo has an incredible lather and the conditioner is shock full of nourishing nutrients. See Also: Rare El’ements Hair Care Review

  1. Nudus Australia – Nudus Australia offers a unique line of natural lipsticks. Their pigments are beautiful, luxurious, and naturally colored. Gone are the days of Red Lake No.5 with this line because all the lip colors are created using a variety of ayurvedic and floral extracts. Their formulas are made using 27 actives to nourish, heal, hydrate and soften lips while also encouraging collagen production. See Also: Nudus Natural Lipsticks Review

KURE-BAZAAR-4-FREE

  1. Kure Bazaar – Kure Bazaar is a non-toxic nail polish brand inspired by both fashion and nature. Uncompromising in their quality and colors, they offer an extensive line of polishes that are, in my personal opinion, way better than the drugstore brands. With nail color names like Scandal, Fabulous and Catwalk as well as a 4-free formula, you won’t be missing mainstream brands in the slightest. See Also: Kure Bazaar Frenchie Nail Polish Review | Kure Bazaar Nail Polish in Mademoiselle K Review

  1. Gressa Skin – Gressa Skin is a uniquely made brand because they offer a line of cosmetics that have massive skincare benefits. Their one of a kind liquid foundation is made from a base of broccoli seed oil and a blend of other plant extracts which help fight aging as well as hydrate and heal the skin during use! The foundation feels more like a face serum than a foundation and melts into your skin like butter. Nobody will even know you’re wearing foundation, but they’ll be asking you what exactly it is you’re doing to get that glow! The foundation itself holds just as many benefits as your night cream with the coverage you want and unlike your typical foundation, this one will actually benefit your skin in the long term. 1. One Love Organics – One Love Organics is the “pretty girl” of organic beauty. Their design is all hearts and flowers, but the great part is these pretty products actually work! The line of skincare products are gentle, effective, and all about giving you that natural glow. Antonia Burrell 1 GROUP

  1. Antonia Burrell Skincare – Last, but definitely not least is Antonia Burrell. British born facialist, Antonia Burrell, is one of the most brilliant skincare lines on the market. Her products often tackle more issues than one including acne, wrinkles, pigmentation, and more. Her anti-acne complex is included in many of her products and even helps protect your skin from UV damage while you wear it. You know those blackheads that refuse to go? Consider them a thing of the past when you try her Cream Supreme! See Also: Cream Supreme Moisturizer Review | Natural Glow Cleansing Oil Review | Luminous Light Polishing Powder Review

storybook-apothecary-green-beauty-brands

Are you seeing natural beauty products a little differently now? You should be. Green beauty has evolved from being crafted by your crazy aunt into a more luxurious state similar to designer brands, but without all the chemicals. Not only that, but many green beauty brands are also vegan, cruelty-free, eco-friendly and sustainable, and may even be a part of your local economy so they give back in more ways than one. There are so many gorgeous green beauty brands apart from the ones I’ve mentioned, but these are some of my favorites. You might think that you’ll be giving up something by making the switch, but I promise the only things we stand to lose by going green are wrinkles, acne, and toxins. Move over, Covergirl. A new way to look beautiful, youthful and enjoy a little luxury is in town and it’s called green beauty.

Love this! I have been doing a mix of natural and conventional products (making sure they are free of really bad stuff and not tested on animals). I was actually going to ask you if you had any BB or CC cream to recommend that I could use on my darker skin. I want something with light coverage that will unify my skin while having and SPF protection and some healing properties (too much to ask haha). I’ll check out the foundation you recommended as well.
I find that a lot of natural product react badly with my skin, giving me sots. I think some of them are just to heavy. Right now though I’m using aloe vera gel as a serum in the morning and avocado oil as an eye contour in the evening 🙂

Thanks Helene! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂 My favorite natural tinted moisturizer types are Gressa Skin Corrective Serum Foundation (LOVE THIS ONE!), Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream (heavier coverage for this one, but smells amazing), and honestly if you want SPF, I prefer to use mineral powder. For healing properties, both of the 2 above are great, especially Gressa one which fights acne AND aging! Also, it’s very light on the skin, but gives enough coverage to even out tone and cover minor discoloration. Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you 🙂 I actually contacted Gressa about which color to get… I’m still undecided since some reviews say that it highlights dry patches? I do like the fact that it’s a serum too. What kind of mineral powder would you advise?

No problem! If you use a scrub and a face oil before applying then dry patches are minimal. I did a review and guide on my blog just search Gressa if you want tips on how to wear it! If you prefer a mineral powder, my personal favorite is Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation – it works well, covers and gives a good finish. Plus one jar lasts ages even if you use it a lot

          1. March 27, 2015 at 1:01 PM

I ordered some Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation samples (cheaper than the trial kit). I’ll let you know how it works out 🙂 Thanks for the advice

Loved this post! As an advocate for green beauty and being as pure as possible with my products I wholly believe that green is the way to go, Not only are you lowering your impact on the environment and the beings that live on it, but you’re ensuring that what you put on your face is OK to be there and won’t clog your skin or fill you with nasty chemicals! I must try some of these brand that I haven’t heard before!

Thanks Ana! I’m so glad you enjoyed the post! I have a TON of green beauty posts on my blog that are helpful if you’re looking for brands, specific products, etc. so I hope you find some lovely products to try. There are so many wonderful brands out there that care about sustainability, product effectiveness, and also maintaining safety and natural ingredient formulas for their products. It’s amazing once you discover them. This post might also help you : http://storybookapothecary.com/top-21-best-green-beauty-products-of-2014/ Thanks again!

So glad I found this and your site!! I’ve been trying to make the switch for some time after reading Kimberly Snyder’s Beauty Detox book. I just haven’t had the time to thoroughly investigate different products. She recommends Sally B’s Skin Yummies, and I really like their lip gloss too, but I’m pinning and trying some of your suggestions as well. Thank you!! Do you happen to know price ranges? Are they all pretty expensive? I noticed luxury and spa used a few times :-).

Hi Angie! So glad you enjoyed the post 🙂 I love that book! I haven’t tried Sally B’s, but I think I’ve heard of them. It sounds super familiar. If you like that kind of brand, you might also like 100% Pure. They have lovely products 🙂 Also, this post might help you find other products as well: http://storybookapothecary.com/top-21-best-green-beauty-products-of-2014/ If you’re looking for a super affordable brand, my favorite is Rainwater Botanicals. I wrote a post about their products here: http://storybookapothecary.com/one-of-my-favorite-ultra-affordable-organic-brands-rainwater-botanicals/ many of the serums and things are as little as $9!The ones in this post range in price, but are somewhat on the more expensive end, especially if you are looking for drugstore comparable prices. Otherwise, they range in price from like $20+ each product for the most part. Hope this helps!

Thanks for stopping by Lisa! I honestly love all of these brands so much – they all carry wonderful products that are both natural and effective as well as pretty 🙂 I love Juice Beauty as well, though I haven’t tried Everyday Minerals. If you like mineral makeup, check out Alima Pure! They have some wonderful products if mineral makeup is something you prefer. Also, check my best of 2014 list: http://storybookapothecary.com/top-21-best-green-beauty-products-of-2014/ where I share my favorite products from last year. That might be helpful as well.

Also, Antonia Burrell is probably my favorite natural brand in terms of products that just change your skin for the better. I am obsessed with her products, but they are very pricey. Also, May Lindstrom, if you haven’t tried the Problem Solver Mask yet, you’re missing out! lol. LOVE that mask and it lasts me forever ♥

This is a fantastic post! I haven’t made the switch to green products mainly because I just didn’t know of that many that were available. I love the idea of not using products full of chemicals and using products made from natural ingredients, so I will definitely be checking into some of these! Thanks for sharing this list!

I’ve not paid much attention to green products usage, mainly because of cost. However, I never use products that are tested on animals.
